Reggie Williams

I believe that he certainly deserves his own thread after performing well at Portsmouth and again in Orlando thus far. The major concern with Williams was his defensive prowess, mainly due to the unconventional system that is in place at VMI. It sort of masked any potential man to man defensive display and also focused on cherry picking as a means of beating the opponent. Essentially, they prided themselves on a tit for tat. Whenever their opponent would score, they would throw it down court and try to obtain an easy basket. Basically they would try to run you out of the gym. As such, Williams's defensive ability was never fully acknowledged. Dx and others have called him a poor athlete, but I whole heartedly disagree. He may not have ideal size for a big man, but he has decent lateral footspeed and a quick first step. He's crafty driving to the basket and is known for his ability to shoot the ball. Certainly, he has an unconventional style- barely getting his feet off the ground- but this does not mean that his game cannot translate in the NBA. Williams has NBA range on his shot and has the length to make the transition to NBA SG imo.
