Is a good post player. I know he can hit the open 17fter. Just wondering about his post game.

Big fish in a small pond. Its just not possible to tell how he'll do against real competition. He'll either be the steal of the draft or out of the league in 2 years

He'd be a solid pick in the 25-45 range.

I agree, but you never know what happens, there's still a lot of shuffle that will occur over the next 4 weeks. I hope he slides to 42, but I agree I think he'll go late first or very early 2nd.

Rider played some real competition this year and he and his brother looked like NBA caliber players. The MAAC is not the worst league he could be in either. He has dominated as the defensive POY for years. There is no way that the level of competition is holding him back. I suspect he is 6'10 or 6'11- not quite a 7 footer, but I see him as playing PF anyway.
Whoever mentioned his medium range jumper was on the money.

Lets not also forget that Thompson at 6'11 was going against C adn PF that were 6'5-6'8''. That 20 point 20 rebound game he put up against Sienna he was being guarded by a 6'5'' forward who put up 20 & 15 on Thomson and a 6'7'' forward.
I think Thompson is going to be a solid role player in this league but think that a majority of people have vastly overrated him due to his stats and not considering the level of competition that he played against. IMO its a very different thing for considering a guard coming from a weak conference because generally their isnt much of a size advantage than a bigman who is has a huge size advantage.
Thompson has a solid J, hes good in the post, however his defense is subpar at best and he will struggle to hold his position against legit 4/5. I think Thompson is going to have to go through a big adjustmetn period before he becomes effective in the league and I think he is in the 25-35 range.

What?! He played good competition this year. Not going to go look up his schedule, but the MAAC is no walk in the park. For the original question I don't know a lot about the guy, so I can't answer that.

hell go in the 1st round because of his size and athletic ability but i think he has a sprained ankle which could cause him to slip a little in the workouts...

Those are great stats. I hope he falls to the Celtics at thirty. I think he could learn alot from KG.

Why? You guys have a great young pf in Leon Powe. Drafting JT would either take playing time away from LP or vice versa.

Jason Thompson has a complete skillset and great size (6'10" 250), so to knock him for needing time to transition into the NBA and not knocking other guys is just unfair. You think DeAndre Jordan is going to waltz in and become a stud in his rookie season? JaVale McGee? Those guys will need just as much time to develop and produce in the NBA as Thompson will.
Thompson played in the MAAC, which wasn't much different than the WAC in 2007/08 where McGee played. Thompson is more skilled, but Jordan and McGee are taller and more athletic. I have Jordan ranked at 3, McGee ranked at 6, and Thompson at 11. I am very high on all 3 prospects and think they all are clearly lottery picks.

Take those numbers with a grain of salt. They were against freshmen and KState was really sltruggling at that point and NC State was the second worse team in the ACC and finished 15-16. Oh and Rider lost both games.

It's not about whether they won or lost. It's about how Thompson played in those situations. If KState was struggling so badly, why make it a point to say they were playing poorly at that point in the season when they won the game? Was their defensive pressure not up to snuff? NC St. was playing well at that point in the season and was ranked in the top 25 after marginally beating Villanova. Still, it's all about matchups and not team prowess. Beasley is the top big in this draft. And, JJ Hickson is a big with comparable draft position. Also, McCauley isn't half bad for NC St.

sure the games were against freshmen...two of the top freshmen in all college basketball and potentially the #1 overall pick in the draft. but just take a 24pt 7rb 2stl 4blk game against arguably the best player in college basketball for granted right?
