2004 high school players in the 2008 draft

Post#1 » by deeney0 » Sun Jun 1, 2008 7:29 pm

2004 was the peak for high school players entering the draft, with 8 being selected in the first 19 picks. Taking into account what we know now, where would do you think these players would be selected in the 2008 draft if they had four years of college under their belts?

1. Dwight Howard
4. Shaun Livingson
12. Robert Swift
13. Sebastian Telfair
15. Al Jefferson
17. Josh Smith
18. J. R. Smith
19. Dorell Wright

Dorell Wright <<<<<<< Josh Smith

Ridiculous to think otherwise.

Hard to see Livingston going above Rose/Beasley, even if you don't consider the knee.

Seems to me that Howard and Jefferson have to go 1/2, Josh Smith should also be top 10, Telfair and J.R. Smith are mid first rounders, Wright is a mid-to-late first rounder. Livingston and Swift go undrafted do to their respective knees.

It really depends on how well Jefferson performed in college. Beasley put 26 and 13 as a freshman. Jefferson doesn't have elite athleticism, so he'd really have to outperform Beasley to be drafted ahead of him.

Josh Smith with the polish of college?

No worse than a top 2 pick.

I have to agree with this. He is the same size as Beasley, 10 times more athletic, and 100 times better on D. Being in college would have helped him skill wise on offense.
