Re: 2022 SPURS SUMMER LEAGUE
REALLY hoped we could sign Darius Days. We worked him out twice, he played consistently well on both ends for us in Summer League and yet...
It's too bad we couldn't secure his services. But looking at our 4s, we have Sochan, Roby, Doug, Keita, Barlow (two-way, so likely Austin unless or until he gets call ups), and Zach as a 4/5.
Assuming we eventually trade Doug, and Zach plays a lot of back-up 5 behind Jakob, that leaves Sochan, Roby, Barlow, and sometimes Keldon in small ball 4. It's still a lot of bodies no matter how you break it down.
I'm happy for Days. He's made the most of his opportunity. Not sure we expected Roby to drop in our laps, and it may have affected our subsequent decisions.
We also didn't get a look at how Joe was progressing with all the work he did on his shot. It looked more like a confidence issue with the Spurs than anything, but if he made improvements that make him feel more assured and results in better play, we may stick with him for a while longer yet. I considered him as an eventual Doug replacement when we drafted him, so we'll see how things develop.
