3RD Q: SPURS 70 WOLVES 76
We missed some gimmies but thanks to opponent missed bunnies we're right back in it, winning this Q 33-24 on the strength of our energetic D and some good drives and kick outs.
Castle's driving gravity draws a lot of attention for open shots for others. Good to have that outlet beyond Welby.
More 3s went in. Good.
Let's protect the ball and the arc and create good to great makes.

Down 14, half a Q left.
Do we have them where we want them?

Sidy right corner
.
Hmmm looks like someone may have found his shot.
And these have been on Branham quickly passing left and right. Ball barley touched his hands. Better.

Re: SPURS GAME DAY! GAME 26: SPURS VS. WOLVES, 15-12-2024, 6PM (CT)
4TH Q: SPURS 92 WOLVES 106
It's not that we gave up a lot of points - we did hold them to three of four Qs under 30 points - but that we couldn't score worth a damn getting a lone 30+ point Q among 19,18, and 22. Oof.
Wemby led us with 20 on 8-20 which is poor but affected by 1-7 from 3. It was like that for most of our guys not named Sidy who was 2-2 from 3, one in each corner. Hope he gets more minutes.
Wemby was remarkable with 12 boards, 5 assists, and 7 blocks but it unfortunately wasn't enough.
We got it to within 3 and that's as close as we got.
Sochan was terrific scoring 17 on clean 7-10 and 3-4FTs and 15 boards (5 on O), 4 assists, and 2 steals. Terrific off ball movement and man D.
Barnes also scored 17 on 6-10 and team best 4-7 from 3 but the starter low -15 passed the eye test as he got lit up by Ant. We needed Sochan and Castle on him all game and doubling him early.
Julian shot and shot and shot with 14 attempts second only to Wemby but could only connect on 4.
CP3 had 9 assists but could not score.
The bench could only chip in 27 led by CBass's 8 on 4-5 and 7 boards.
50 team boards is great; 34 assists is great; winning PITP is 46-42 solid, too.
But we gave up 30 points on our old nemesis TOs, of which we had 19 tonight. And while a couple of their main guys got to 3 fouls each, we only had 7-9FTs, NONE by the bench. Castle and Dev both struggled to score mightily and though the D was solid we needed more fire power.
What happened to Sochan's outside shooting and FTs?
Blake over Branham minutes stands out. Branham was quick to pass the ball along. Don't think I saw him even dribble let alone attempt a shot. Has to build trust to play the team game again.
We need Keldon's oooomph.
Tre's game is important and it stands out in our missing it.
Make or miss game. Back to the drawing board. Control what we can like strong starts, ball protection, and hustle.

He also averages 2 blocks in odd numbered minutes in the 2nd quarter on Tuesdays during a leap year.
All these stats are meaningless IMO. How about winning some games?

They are the opposite of meaningless. They are generational breaking level and deserve praise, all the more so when it's against a very good defensive team.
As for wins, we cleared more than the half way point of last season's total last month. This is progress.

I am convinced that if we play Sidy in Melachi's minutes, the team will get a better outcome. Sidy is a better distributor, better defender and better connective piece than Melachi. The only thing that Melachi is better at is shooting and even that is nothing to write home about.
Against the great scoring SG/SF players like Luka, SGA, Ant, etc., the Spurs should be looking to platoon Castle and Sidy to hound the heck out of them. If we get 10 points out of Castle or Sidy, that's gravy.
We need to face facts, the Spurs are not a great 3 point shooting team so they should only be taking good shots and for both Castle and Sidy, that means driving to the basket which forces their defenders to defend them. If they shoot 3 of 9 on 3 pointers between them that is enough. I already want Chris Paul to be shooting more 3 pointers.

Yeah going from memory I think we're something like 7th in attempted 3s per game which is a huge swing from like bottom 3 in previous seasons but we're around 17th in accuracy so it's not translating as well over time.
Having poor arc shooters like Castle and Sochan as starters makes things more difficult for us. But unlike in previous years we have the tools to improve that. One of them is swapping Dev in for Castle. Another is as you said giving Sidy Branham's minutes. It's time for both.
