4TH Q: SPURS 105 BUCKS 121
Agree with gump above. I've been saying it for a short while now. We're not the sum of our parts, however flawed they may be in a rebuilding team. But we've played FAR better and against good teams. It's just we've gone AWAY FROM OUR TEAM GAME in favour of ISO trips after one screen and one pass too often. Ok we may want someone other than Wemby to get better at taking pressure off him, but we're losing games figuring out we mostly suck at ISOing.
Plus the two Hobbit back court lineups, or those with undersized PFs - positionless basketball, but also not nearly as effective as our team-first O has been.
Wemby only 10FGAs. Brilliant. He also grabbed 10 boards and 4 blocks. Dev 17FGAs, yet he made as many as Wemby, 4. Steph flat out struggled to put the ball in the basket from almost anywhere. We dont' need nearly half his shots coming from the arc. 0-5. Dev has a hard time creating for himself or others. Screen and getting to his spot or drive. But mechanical. Too slow. And ISO choices over team ball is out of balance.
The vets stepped up very well with CP3 leading the starters with 18. Nice to see a resurgent game from him. Led us 5-6 from 3. And with 7 assists.
Keldon led us with 24 on stellar 7-15, 2-5 from 3, team best 8-9FTs, team best 11 boards (team best 5 on O). JUst a terrific vintage Keldon Wilder Johnson effort. All in only 24 minutes.
Julian team high -26. Sounds about right. Please don't dribble. Or look off a waiting-for-the-ball Wemby. Just get to your spots and shoot 3s. And make them. Actually had some decent man D early in the game. But yeah...
I know Mamu got garbage minutes, but he ended up being the third highest bench scorer in 6 bloody minutes. We ran small ball 4 with him rotting on the bench. WHAT DOES HE HAVE TO DO TO GET BETTER CHANCES?!
Some good D to O pushes for transition chances. Some good D switches and blitz doubling. Got outrebounded again. Not enough assists or movement or sets optimizing individual strengths to the best of collective needs.
p.s. Pistons now have more wins than we do. Just... Let's go back to making the most of our chances, and doing a better job at creating them.
p.s.s. 52 3s out of 95FGAs is **** stupid basketball. This is anti-Spurs basketball.
Gross.
