4TH Q: SPURS 119 PELICANS 115

Frankly, closer than I'd have expected given news Zion would be out for 'personal reasons'.

But we eked out a W, and with Bulls losing we switched positions in the standings.

Yoi could tell we wanted to win this one based on who we had out there late to finish the game - Dev, KJ, Champie, Steph, and Sochan.

So no vets again but pretty much who we expect to be here going forward, all young guys getting clutch end of game reps together. This wasn't third stringers to throw the game. Basketball gods don't reward that well.

Anyway, we limited TOs well (only 10, and were +14 in points off them), we got to the FT line aplenty, making a healthy but could be much better 25-33, did better in improving our efficiency while decreasing theirs.

We made 16-39 from 3, this after making 21 3s last night.

We made seven fewer FGAs on nine fewer attempts yet still scored more. All that cumulative work to get to the FT line (where we were +14) and made four more 3s chipped away at their whopping 62-40 PITP and their 22-19 fast break edge.

They had five starters in double figures to our three (Dev, Steph, Barnes) with three vets once again playing fewer minutes, bit we had four bench players in double figures to offset the scoring.

A strong bench has been an increasingly reliable staple, and tonight our outscored theirs 55-24.

We got badly outrebounded 52-37 and 12-8 on O boards, but focused on what we could control and kept up the energy to keep pushing and counterpunching.

Good team effort with 26 assists and 10 steals with seven Spurs in double figures, balanced between three starters and four bench players. This with our basically playing seven players in 20s to 30s in minutes with three players in the 10-12 minutes.

Keep playing to our strengths, to our team game, to making up collectively what lack individually.

Good team win.

On to the next one.

I mean it was a comedy of errors. Game was actually closer than I expected with leads exchanged throughout the game. Really they are a mess lol like ten fewer wins than us mess. Tons of injuries and Zion was out due to 'personal reasons'. Keep in mind we have one of the toughest remaining schedules but some of these types of teams, even with us depleted, are just tiers below us. It is what it is.
