This is without a doubt the most exciting season for mid-year trades since I've been a fan of the NBA.

If we can get Artest (a player I've been a fan of since his 2nd year), that would be a dream come true. He is a Bowen replacement defensively, plus he gets you 20ppg.

BUT

He hearts NY. He's a free agent after the season. It would feel like a rent-a-player situation.

Artest to SA (if it was ever real) is now dead.

All that is left is Denver, Houston or.....he stays in Sacramento.

I'm guessing he'll stay, IMO.

That's what I've been saying.......Kurt Thomas to the Spurs is a Spurs-like FO high-reward/low-risk move.....trading for Artest is a very un-Spurs-like FO move that COULD be considered a high-reward/high-risk move.

Either way, the Spurs now have another veteran defending Big Man that they can throw at Shaq and the rest of the Lakers Front court.

Well, Artest-mini-gate was pretty fun to follow, anyway

All these questions and disputes for nothing. :)

That's fair. I liked that you didn't go overboard and just basically bash Ron. That's an illegitimate way to go about it, IMO.

this deal is probably dead, still, if your Ron Artest you have to be kicking yourself right now that the Kings/Spurs could not work something out. I would imagine Artest licking his chops at the very thought of playing with the Spurs. Oh well.

8 pages...? I never set my hopes on an Artest trade. He would fit in, no doubt but the recent move (again) shows the true nature of the spurs FO. Never trading for an impact player that would disturb the balance in the team and the role every player has in it. Can't wait to see KT next to TD.
