Tightening the screws on D

Post#1 » by Magz50 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 2:54 pm

Just checking out stats on ESPN's team by team comparison. Before the allstar break we were languishing midtable in defense, we've now shot right up to 3rd behind Boston and Detroit. I'm guessing Boston will probably continue slipping as they have been lately and we'll eventually get into another battle with the Pistons for defensive domination of the league.

Also with Kurt in the line up gives us a really good chance to take the lead, watching the game last night he was a monster defensively, i dunno how many of you watched the game but DAMN he was all over Horford and Pachulia whenever they had the ball in the post, he stripped Pachulia once when he went to spin on him and blocked a couple of shots when they went around him. His rebounding was solid too. He's going to make a huge difference to our interior D when TD goes out of the game. I almost felt bad for Fab, he looked very sullen polishing the end of the bench when Kurt came in.

Kurt was indeed awesome last night. Gives me flashbacks of how he's handled TD in the past, but now he's doing it for us!

Don't feel too bad for Fab...I have a feeling that he, KT and Horry will play Center/PF by committee depending on matchups. He's a great team player so he should be OK.

I just adore the addition, and after some more games he'll be in tune with the system

Trade deadline helper big man part two (2005/Nazr)

Pop said they've been trying to get Kurt since he was a Knick

Fab just didn't match up well last night with the Hawks front-court, he'll still start.

Well to be honest we were sucking.... I am glad that we are pulling it together and peaking at the right time.

About a month or so ago I was losing faith. At that stage I was only focusing on the defensive end of the court as my barometer. Our defense was downright dominating last night, and we essentially played 3 quarters of basketball.

It looks like the addition of KT is working out well for the Spurs. Hopefully he'll keep this up from here on in.

I just wish he came here when he was in his prime. Kurt if perfect for us. We've never had a tough guy here before. Mario Elie was probably our last tough guy but he plays SG. it's a lot different when you're a big guy.

Yeah Elie, Rodman and Kurt are easily the toughest players we've had in the past 15 years. I'd probably add Antoine Carr in that mix too.

I think Horry's a tough guy. With how he plays and his overall mentality.

What about Jerome Kersey and Avery? I haven't seen too much of Kersey (yet anyway), but from what I have on him, he came off as a tough player to me.

Kurt is a more defined tough guy, though, I agree.

Kersey was way past his prime when he played for us though, he didn't really show much game at all. The others however definitely had their moments.

I see. I just didn't know how much of a factor he was with the team.
