I'm not sure if I'll watch the games or not.
I'm already sick of the media gushing over the matchup - and that's just online, I don't live in the US so I'm not exposed to the print or televised side of things. They call it a "dream" matchup.
This is supposedly the series that will attract the "casual" basketball fan - whoever that is...like any moron walking past a TV will see the Laker gold and the Celtic green and just be transfixed to the screen for 4 quarters.
I am thinking I might just ignore the games. The hype is annoying me already. I ignored LeBron James' game for about two years because I couldn't stand all the coverage and nut-hugging that was going on before he'd set foot on an NBA court.
I see where you're coming from BR - I need a break from the game as well. Though the Olympics are coming up, and those games are usually good.

Great team win by Boston
They're so fun to watch.
Very good first game of the finals, definitely one of the better games of the playoffs, too
Lakers were overwhelmed a handful of times tonight - the role-players need to play better, who are capable of playing better... and I think the Lakers decent amount of youth did show up tonight.
Boston's defense improved pretty well in the 2nd half
Yup.

You know what I don't like about the Celtics this year? Everybody is gushing about what a turnaround season they had this year. Let's be honest here... what was expected??? Any championship rings won by them this year should go to the front office IMO. It's not like the team filled in a couple of role players and developed young talent. They brought in bonafied all-star caliber players.
As a side note, KG posts slightly worst defensive stats in years and jumps from 13th the previous two years in DPOY voting to first? On top of that, he's playing in the East where there really are only 3.5 legit teams in the first place. In the meantime TD and Bowen are constantly in the top 10 in voting but both will retire shafted from the award throughout their careers.
*Ignore me, just venting... the Splitter news really struck a nerve.*

I mean the relatively big turn-around wasn't a surprise... if somebody didn't think they'd be a lot better, they had no idea what was going on.
Defensively though, it was different, some thought they'd be decent or not that great, while others thought they'd be solid (including myself), but not historic and great like they turned out to be.
KG understandably got the DPOY, but Duncan still deserved it just as much as him. And deserved it more than Camby last year.
The media is just ignorant sometimes.

It doesn't bother me that Garnett won DPOY as much as the fact that he shot up from 13th two consecutive years in voting to 1st. If he went to a less heralded team would he have won? Would he be DPOY on Memphis? I'm sure he wouldn't.
The hype behind especially the Celtics this year has just been sickening.

The fate for the Lakers is at hand in the 2nd half - not looking too cool there
What a superior half of basketball by the Celt Show

Laker media darlings shaking their head in bewilderment right now
DEEP, I told you about that Celtics defense being a noticable effect on the Lakers offense
I don't know if I just missed your posts, but I would of liked to see you post during the finals (maybe part of it is going to the games in LA) on the GB.

Just tremendous for the Celtics and their fans
Boo-yah to the Lake Show and media darlings
I loved that emotion from KG, I almost shed tears
Well deserved MVP for Paul Pierce! - pretty close between he and Ray, but I think Paul's defense and facilitating got him the edge for it.

Yeah i didn't watch a single game of the finals. Good to see Kobe not get another ring tho. Glad KG finally got one. Although i hate both teams i wanted boston to win more. So somewhat of a small victory for me.
