SI wrote:Shaquille O'Neal has spiced up the Oct. 29 season opener between his Suns and their bitter rivals, the Spurs. O'Neal said in a radio interview that he would "make the Spurs pay" for using the Hack-a-Shaq tactic during the first round of the playoffs last season. The Diesel made 32-of-64 (50 percent) from the free throw line in the Suns' five-game loss to Gregg Popovich's team. From the San Antonio Express-News:
O'Neal claims now he has no problem with the strategy itself. Just the timing of it.
"The only thing I call cowardly is when you're up by 10 and do it," Shaq told KTAR in Phoenix. "That's a coward move."
Of course, O'Neal isn't worried about more teams employing the strategy going forward.
"It doesn't work," O'Neal said, ignoring the fact that it kind of did. "You know San Antonio tried it but they went home a couple weeks after we went home."
...
"I just have to go to the line and hit them and make them pay," he said in the radio interview.
So it appears Shaq's plan for revenge involves morphing into Mark Price. Somehow we don't think Popovich is going to be losing much sleep at night.
