Spurs to sign Blake Ahearn

Post#1 » by the southern dandy » Sun Nov 16, 2008 3:19 am

It looks as though Farmer is on his way out for Ahearn. The only way this works is if Ahearn is signed as a temporary fix for the point guard position. The real question is where would this move leave Vaughn? If the Spurs don't believe in his ability as a third stringer, he really has to go.

The level headed fan in me believes that this is a temporary shot in the arm for the offense whilst Parker is injured.

The wildly optimistic fan in me is hoping that this is a prelude to a trade going down, as was the increased playing time for Matt Bonner.

I've watched Ahearn in the D-league when he was playing for the Dakota Wizards and you guys are going to like him. He is only 6-2 but he flat out knows how to put the ball in the basket.

He can shoot.

Seems they could use a big man now more than a PG/SG

This guy is good.... I remember he played against the raptors and was going of from beyond the arc and was hitting some nice floaters

Heard some about Ahearn, sounds like a decent guard who can fit in here

Spurs are just swapping one shooter for another. Except Ahearn isn't buried behind Mason, Finley, Bowen & Udoka like Farmer was.

I too think this is just a temporary move until Tony gets back.

Never heard of this guy but from reading the report he sounds nothing more than a JJ Redick. I don't know if he's going to get much PT.

I'm hoping TSD is right and a trade is going down.
Hill has proven more than capable of the backup PG role. If Ahern can come in and hit some nice shots, he might be able to hold down 3rd string. That'll leave Vaughn out and with Bonner getting time he really shouldn't hopefully Pop is trying to increase his stocks.

Ahearn got some token minutes last night in the 2nd quarter. Guy's got a real pretty shooting stroke. He was completely lost out there, but that's understandable.
