Re: How would you to attempt to fix this team?
Well the big question with Marion is how much he wants. Personally, I think he'll stay with Miami if all he can get in the market is the MLE. If Marion is willing to sign for anywhere between 7-8 mil (more than MLE), Miami should take it. Otherwise, I think we see Marion go for the S&T. But yeah I'm hoping it's like what Magz had last year. Only one team was willing to give him huge money and that was GS. If they didn't he'll get MLe wherever he goes. I'm hoping this time there isn't any team.

Tony and Manu are good for scoring with their penetration and the open shots, however, as Timmy declines, so does the defensive focus on him, and the pressure mounts on Manu and TP. The Spurs need a legitimate primary offensive player at the 2 or 3 that can score from the perimeter and mid-range. However, all those guys are going to command MAX contracts and I don't see them landing on the Spurs.

It's awful. Nets are clear winners of the trade and they rip everyone off. You're not gonna get that much for Vince Carter.

Yeah Clippers get ripped off solid, we don't break even with losing our assets just for Kaman and Nets get away like bandits

It is an ungodly bad trade for the Clippers and Spurs. Do we really want to have Jacque Vaughn as our backup point guard again this year?

That's interesting because that was not my intent.

I'm a little confused at how the Clippers are getting ripped off too (maybe I'm missing something here!), I mean they get the hands down best player in the trade. It's not like Vince has drastically fallen off in recent years...
How would you improve the trade? I'm guessing exchanging the 37th pick for the 51st pick wouldn't be enough?

Improve the trade? I think you can safely take out the Spurs from this deal.
The Clippers basically give up Al Thornton and a 27 year old Center Chris Kaman for a 32 year old Vince Carter who still have about 33 mil over the next 2 years in his contract. And that's not even including the Draft Picks that you insist from the Clippers.
I doubt the Clippers would even part with Al Thornton to get Vince Carter.

Actually I came to this conclusion after discussing this with Blame Rasho. But you're seriously selling Vince Carter short here and overrating Al Thornton. Spend some times around the Clippers board and you'll understand why many Clippers fans have grown tired of him... That's not to say he's a terrible player, as if that were the case why would I want him? But I have him ranked as a second or third tier wing prospect which is why I thought he could be obtained in a Carter trade of this type.

Perhaps, but Al is like 10 years younger and still on his rookie contract while Vince is 32 and past his prime.
Even if Clip fans are tired of Al Thornton, I doubt they'd trade him for Vince.

Find a way to trade for a near all-star caliber impact player.
You should go after Hamilton or Prince from Detroit as both of them would fit nicely into your system.
