Hypothetical NO Trade Proposals

Post#1 » by bishopospurs » Fri Jul 3, 2009 3:51 pm

We are going to be getting a big in free agency, so I was wondering if y'all think Finley and Bonner for James Posey is a good deal or possible? That would turn bonner into a really good backup small forward.

Another option is throw Mason and we get Tyson Chandler, then use our MLE on a shooter to replace Mason. Guys available that would be interesting are Carlos Delfino, Nate Robinson, Rashad McCants, Marquis Daniels. Mason can stroke it, but if McClinton looks that good maybe we have some breathing room. The Posey idea seems more ideal I think.

Posey would be nice, but he's definitely on the downside of his career. Still, if all we had to give up for him was Finley/Bonner, I'd be for it. He'd essentially be a replacement for Bowen, assuming Bruce doesn't return.

I'm not so sure about Chandler. He's had plenty of injury issues lately, plus his only real offense is when he has CP3 lobbing alley-oops to him...he won't get those on the Spurs. I really like Mason for this team, and he should come back to form next year as long as the backup PG experiment is truly over.

Spurs wont take Posey's long term contract and trading Mason for Chandler doesn't work salary wise by far. Not to mention, the Spurs wouldn't absorb a big salary.

Seriously, you must have been a Spurs' fan for years but you sound like someone that has no idea on how the Spurs build their roster year after year, lol.
