Well, when you come out at say things like "Crush these fools", or other of your brethren throw out names about our players and how we're not up to your level and your team gets blown out at home, you kind of set yourself up for it.Donald Kaufman wrote:Whatever emotion you choose to express over one regular season game is entirely up to you. No, I'd rather stay and discuss the game, if that's not too much trouble.Donald Kaufman wrote:Right. You've come in here and had your little gloat, now off with you.

GG fellas. Too bad I couldn't watch this game with my homies in S.A. where there's always a massive amount of **** talking throughout. Spurs/Lakers is one of the last true rivalries in the league and both sides would be fortunate to see these teams meet one last time in the playoffs.
I personally think it's going to be LA vs SA in the WCF, and it's going to be all out war.

Laker fan here that's a lot of words to eat, get to it. You can't leave the table until your plate is clean.

We have won the chip the past 2 years and your just mad cause your team didn't back up your comment

Noone wants to discuss the game?
I wasnt able to watch it today, what happened in the first half? Was it just poor shooting or did the Lakers have our number on defense?

Re: GT: Lakers vs. Spurs
I missed the game too but I did predict the lost.
I mean, we had an awesome shooting game in Miami. That usually means we're going to have an off night the next game. Lakers are extremely motivated after our last game where Dice tip in to win the game. Lakers are playing really really good in the past few games. It was a recipe for a loss. Thankfully, I placed my bet on LA and I won 5 bucks. Not much, but it's still something. I'm getting good at predicting wins and losses this season.
IMO, some of us here predicts a win just about every game unless it's B2B and we meet LA and the Boston the next day both on the road.

Not in here to talk trash even though some of the posts here were amusing, but to answer your question it was a combination of a few things actually. The Lakers did play some great defense - Bynum was a force inside, we were bodying up and getting you guys turnovers and tough shots - but also the Spurs seemed to be missing a bunch of wide open looks I'm sure you guys drain more often than not. A few of the threes you took were open (like Ginobili's airball) and some other easy looks couldn't be converted.. I felt the Spurs couldn't get anything going until Neal and McDyess came in. And along with our defense and your missed shots... it seemed like somehow Kobe was the only Lakers player missing any shots at all in the first qtr. We were automatic.

Our defense is what defined the game, especially the first quarter. Our defensive strategy for the last three years has been defend the post primarily while still being over to recover. In the first few games, we would recover but no one would help the helper, so the second pass would either result in a three or and open lane for someone to drive.
In this game, when someone would recover, there was someone there to recover for the initially helper. We kept you from you getting quality looks past the three line and you off them. And since we wanted to force you into the paint, our bigs did an excellent job, especially Bynum with seventeen rebounds, three blocks and probably affected seven or eight more.
And with our defense clicking, we were able to quickly initiate our offense and get the looks and match ups we wanted on the offensive end of the floor. And with use converting we were able to get back and set our defense, negating the Spurs the ability to get and mismatches on the offensive end.

Donald Kaufman U MAD.
To you other three Spurs fans that come and post on this board. I expect a lengthy, hard fought playoff series and may the better team win.
Kaufman you're really a sore loser, and seeing how irate you are after the loss makes it all the sweeter. Your team thought it was going to be a somewhat easy win and you got annihilated and you can't take it. You'll really be sore when we knock you out of the conference finals.

Beat you by 17.
Beat you by 1 in your building.
Lose to you by 16.
No reason to be mad.

Lol. We dominated you till the 4th and that was when our guys knew the win was apparent and started thinking about the next game. That 16 point victory isn't indicative of the thrashing you received.
It did point out how much smaller you are vs. us though. Gives you something to think about.
It also showed that we are more than capable of playing at a championship level still (instead of playing "below your level").

Re: GT: Lakers vs. Spurs
To my Laker fans, no need to get overly excited about one game. Seeing how some post are coming off here it's easily to take it as gloating. Further more DK is a cool, smart, knowledgeable and respected Spur fan.
Myself and DK go back a ways, we've had debates here on the GB and our very own Laker board. So I don't think I'm viewed as a troll or gloater when I come here because I post here even when the Laker and Spurs aren't playing.
Hope BR and Wiz are cool with this because I'm not trying to cross any boundaries I'm not suppose to, all I'm really getting at is respect recognizes respect, bottom line is this...the Spurs are our only equal in this league in this decade.

I need to stop feeding the trolls.
You're a good dude Deep. Too bad so many of your fellow Laker fans can't be as cool. For you and the three other decent Laker fans, congrats on the win and hopefully see you guys in May.

Re: GT: Lakers vs. Spurs
is this playoff yet? it is just a regular season game. Grats to lakers on the win, they really needed this one more than the spurs. Lakers need to be playing like this ( at least on the defense end ) and they need to get the 2nd seed in the west if they still want to win a title tihs year. After all who wants to start on the road in the 2nd round. Now the spurs and pop know what the lakers can be if they finally play some defense so the spurs coaching staff can be well prepare for the playoff if they face each other. Good teams know how to adjust after the lose.
