Record reflection...

Post#1 » by Blame Rasho » Sun Apr 10, 2011 10:26 pm

I am just looking at our record and standings and can't help but be impressed with what the Spurs accomplished.
SOUTHWEST W L PCT GB HOME ROAD DIV CONF PF PA DIFF STRK L10
z - San Antonio (1) 61 19 .763 - 36-5 25-14 10-6 38-12 103.8 97.8 +6.0 Won 4 4-6
x - Dallas (3) 54 25 .684 6 ½ 27-12 27-13 6-8 32-17 99.8 96.2 +3.6 Won 1 6-4
x - New Orleans (7) 46 33 .582 14 ½ 28-12 18-21 9-5 27-22 95.3 93.5 +1.8 Won 3 7-3
x - Memphis (8) 45 34 .570 15 ½ 29-11 16-23 7-8 29-20 99.9 97.5 +2.4 Won 1 8-2
Houston 42 38 .525 19 25-15 17-23 5-10 24-26 105.9 103.8 +2.1 Won 1 6-4

and I compare it to Chicago who is in the running for HCA for the entire NBA... and say... damn...

CENTRAL W L PCT GB HOME ROAD DIV CONF PF PA DIFF STRK L10
z - Chicago (1) 60 20 .750 - 35-5 25-15 15-1 37-13 98.6 91.3 +7.3 Won 7 9-1
x - Indiana (8) 37 43 .463 23 24-16 13-27 9-7 28-22 100.0 100.9 -0.9 Won 2 7-3
Milwaukee 33 47 .413 27 21-19 12-28 6-10 25-26 91.6 92.6 -1.0 Won 1 5-5
Detroit 28 51 .354 31 ½ 21-19 7-32 7-8 20-29 96.6 100.4 -3.8 Won 2 3-7
Cleveland 17 63 .213 43 11-29 6-34 2-13 13-37 95.2 104.7 -9.4 Lost 2 4-6

In spite of playing in a division where our last place mean is over .500 we have gotten 60 plus wins, and while Chicago is in a division with no .500 teams...

We might not get HCA due to the tiebreakers if we lose another game... but I am just damn proud of this team.

Ya this has been a amazing season for us. Hopefully we can finish it off with a championship.

This has been an amazing season. To think that coming off last season, barely 50 wins and a sweep at the hands of the Suns of all teams, who'd of thought we'd get top seed in the West and potential HCA throughout the playoffs? Amazing. This has been my favorite season as a Spurs fan, maybe ever. Really loving the games and the unselfish play by the team as a unit. It's been a joy to watch.

Obviously another title would be sweet, but whatever happens this has been a great season, and completely unexpected. I expected improvement over last year, just not to this extent.

When was the last time something like this happened? A team that goes from 63 wins in '06, to 58 wins in '07, 56 wins in '08, 54 wins in '09, and 50 wins in '10, to all of a sudden winning 61 games with two games left to play. This is truly remarkable and a reflection of what staying healthy can do for you and how damn good of a coach Greg Popovich really is.
