The only team that can beat the Spurs is the Spurs. It's all mental now.

Re: 2012 Year of the Spurs?
I had my doubts but I'm a believer right now. Some things have changed.
The new additions are obvious so I'm not gonna mention those guys again. We go as far as the big three and right now that's the part that has me really excited. This is obviously a different Duncan than last year. Last year I kept on screaming about how Duncan has turned into a jumpshooter. A lot of that is because when Manu and Parker is on the floor, Duncan is the third option and the third option doesn't get as many plays called for him. This year with the injury to Manu, Duncan has gotten more touches especially in the low post. Add that he's in better shape, this is simply a different Duncan.
Also last year Tony Parker wasn't aggresive. The Spurs were Manu's team. This year it's Parker's team. IMO we're seeing the best Parker has ever played. 2007 perhaps was his best scoring season, but this is definitely his best overall season.
Then we know Manu is injured a lot, but he's getting his wind back and he's only a year removed from his best season last year.
So now we have a better big three than last year, and then we were exceptionally young and small (Hill at SG, Manu at SF a lot), our youngsters have another year on their belt, then we got surprises like Kawhi and Danny, emergence of Tiago, continued (although small) improvements from Blair, along with the additions of our new guys, and damn, I feel like we have a pretty complete team.
I like our chances of coming out of the West. As far as titles, my gut stills says Miami wins it or Chicago would if Rose gets healthy. Right now, anything but the WCF is a failure. OKC should present us with a good challange. Though I think we'll win it againts them now, they're still a very good team and it wouldn't surprise me if we lose. WCF is my worse expectation. I expect us to lose in the Finals to be honest.
Can't wait for the playoffs to start. I just want to know who we're facing already. As far as seeding, I don't care. First or second is alright, I prefer 1st simply because i expect us to get out of the first round and I rather meet Memphis/LAC over OKC/Lakers. Let OKC battle the Lakers in the 2nd round.

Good read.
I think Heat have a better chance to win it all than the Spurs if they don't come mentally prepared.

Well said, co_laper
LAL still bothers me the most out of any team out there in the conf. - maybe not as much if they didn't get Sessions. But he kinda fills that Odom 4th play-maker guy, just in the form of a traditional perimeter player.
OKC and Memphis are definitely very good, but overall they shouldn't beat us.
If we don't make the WCF and be a tough out, it's a failure, wouldn't feel as bad if lost in finals

After that Lakers game, I changed my mind about not caring about the playoff seeding.
To avoid Lakers, out best chance is to get the first seed. Dallas/LA/OKC would fall in other bracket and we can let them beat each other out. I want Denver and Memphis.

you know. the lakers aren't crash hot about playing the thunder and the grizz either (just too athletic)
but you can bet we want to keep the spurs on our side of the bracket, seeing as we cant get you guys to take the thunder out in the 2nd round
i'm looking forward to seeing where everyone ends up, its like a massive game of rock, paper, scissors in the west
