Black_Jack, that sounds like the summer of 2007 and 2008...

I just think we need another defensive player up front... were too small... and even though Duncan/Diaw will most likely be finishing games, over the course of a series and game, you do need more than one back-up big with LENGTH. I don't like that we haven't had a solid support of size around Duncan since 2007 and 2008, and then in 2008 it was an older-bias of size up front, plus a lack of offense. I mean if we combined the 2007 and 2012/2013 front-courts with Duncan, it'd be quite nice! Obviously another Horry-like PF/C is rare, even like Ryan Anderson isn't that close to Horry, while not a bad defender or rebounder.

How do you guys feel about getting John Salmons? Maybe trade SJAX for Salmons, Honeycutt, future 1st at the deadline?

Nah, we need size and defense. Salmons is a step away from that direction, and we have enough offence as it is.

The future first might add some interest, but the FO for us is making moves to allow us to win now.

Today we will know if someone bid on Scola or if he's a FA..

If he becomes a FA and San Antonio calls him, there's no doubt that he will sign with us.

But i think someone is gonna bid on him..he's also a good trading asset at 3 mil/year.

I know we need lenth for defense, but an offensive big with good post game and good jumper we only have Tim Duncan..

I think the Spurs are givin Ajinca a chance to show what he has in this summer league.. Maybe becomes a Spurs, or plays for the Toros..

Splitter and Diaw are more than capable on offense... that's been proven, and Splitter's gonna get even better after his first legit year in the NBA, and while both are solid but different defenders... Splitter/Duncan just ien't enough for bigs on a team to contest and get in the way around the basket.

Blair and/or Bonner/Diaw/Scola + Duncan/Splitter hypothetical.... what if Duncan or Splitter get hurt or get into foul trouble, in an important sequnce? Were really gonna be at a disadvantage and have to really scrap, with a bunch of 6''8" players who, on top of that are basically not too quick (Diaw is quick for a PF, but still is undersized), when that wouldn't be needed if we can just bring in a competent, somewhat proven or better big man with good length to help protect around the paint, to go WITH Diaw or Splitter in the game. That's what should be thought about, not more offense. Unless that guy also has good size to go along with it, then that's a different story.

I dont' dislike Scola, he's still a good player, but we don't really need him... we need more length, that's been a glaring issue since 2007/2008.

Salmons is a good player... I watched a lot of him with the Kings and Bulls. But really Manu already fills the role he'd fill (creator and scorer, energy) and while Salmons is younger, a more versatile defender, and similar in skillset, more durable... Manu is Manu.

If we didn't have S-Jax it'd make more sense as a real spark off the bench... but Salmons is pretty redundant for this team.

This team needs to add big with length.

Jesus, didn't even know Anthony Tolliver was an FA... we should exit Blair or Bonner and sign Tolliver and Darko. Off-season, all but done!

Tolliver is much more valuable as a stretch four than Bonner... simply because of his athleticism on both ends of the court, with what that allows him to do.

I think darko might fit well but im a bird man fan. We need some D in the paint and energy off the bench both of which bird man can do and a line up like this would be legit i dont know if we could afford it but looks good
Splitter/anderson
Duncan/diaw
Lenard/sjax
Manu/anderson
Parker/mills
Trade blair and bonner for draft picks to clear cap space everyone else can fit in where ever. Anderson give energy shot blocking not saying it could ever happen but signing tolliver would be a plus as well.

I would love Birdman. Gives us the last things we need out of our bigs. Someone athletic and blocks shots.

Don't think the Front Office wants him though. Just doesn't look like a Spurs-type guy.

SJax doesn't seem like a Spurs-type guy either. Plus I think Birdman's worst days are well behind him.

I wouldn't mind Birdman for the MIN, but it's well known that decent player don't sign with the Spurs for the MIN and that's the only money we have left. Hopefully I am wrong about it and we can add a decent BIG to the roster.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

Im not even sure if blair bonner and anderson off the books we could do either or just one. I would love to see another great rebounder on the team w crazy hair lol. I feel birdman is better leaps and bounds better then blair or bonner we dont need O in the paint we need rebounds and shot blocking period. Darko can block shots hell maybe go after him i cant see a small team winning the west.So the only thing that can topoff this off season is signing a D minded center

I don't know what is stopping this team from getting Duncan more defensive help like we used to years ago...

A small team is always at a disadvantage, unless you have enough pure athleticism to use as a consistent strength, then that betters your chances. But, even there, you need to have the right players, like Miami did... but as a general template, this isn't the way you should build a front-court with mostly undersized players.

And, one thing that helped MIami is OKC had no big to be a real offensive threat around the paint. Would love to see them against LAL or even an improved us (SA).
