GT: Spurs vs. Thunder

This game against the Thunder is going to be our biggest test of this young season.

Pretty well played game, but you have to hit threes. Spurs also seem to have a tough time guarding mid-range shots. Saw this against Portland too.

Also, is anyone starting to get a little concerned about Duncan's play?

Missed the game tonight. Looks like we didn't shoot very well and couldn't stop their bench.

What's wrong with Tim? His offensive game has disappeared. He was unable to post up Ibaka. Getting blocked. And even missed shots at the rim because of Ibaka's presence.

Actually, the game's MVP got to be Serge Ibaka. It's not just Tim who's shot was affected by Serge. Parker had trouble getting shots off in the paint. Splitter and Kawhi also looked like they hurried their shots. Ibaka recorded 5 blocks, but I bet he changed atleast 10-15 shots out there.

And ofcourse Reggie Jackson was crazy out there. I forgot whether it was 3rd or 4th, but he had a stretch where he was unstoppable. Shooting 3s, long jumpers, scoring off isolations, getting to the rim. I mean, wow. He reminds me of Bobby Jackson btw.

We played well early in the game. Parker was getting to the paint and that created open shots on the perimeter but we couldn't hit a thing. It didn't get better after that.

Giving credit to Thunder. Can't just say this was a game where we missed shots. Their defense made us play that way. But this was a game at their home. They're supposed to and was favored to win the game. Let's see when they come to our house.

For our guys, Kawhi defended Durant great. Pop matched Kawhi's minutes to Durant's minutes. When Durant gets subbed, Kawhi does to. And when Durant enters, so does Kawhi. For comparison, Durant averages 28 points a game on 18 shots this season. Kawhi made Durant score 24 points on 23 shots and made him commit 6 turnovers, 3 (I think) resulted in steals made by Kawhi. Just a marvelous defensive job on Durant.

Patty Mills also came in and give the team a spark offensively when the team couldn't hit a thing. Problem is, he was also mostly to blame for Reggie Jackson's big night. It was his defensive assignment, before eventually Danny Green took turns to guard him.

Nothing new, this has always been the Spurs achilles heel on the defensive end.

It goes back to even the old Bucks teams featuring Glenn Robinson, Sam Cassell, and Ray Allen where they just feasted on us from the midrange.

The idea is sound. Protect the paint, defend the 3 point line, and don't foul. The midrange jumper is the least efficient shot in basketball so they're playing the percentages.

Portland, with LMA being a great midrange shooter, always (ALWAYS) have big night againts us.

Oh well, we were about due for a loss. The Blazers lost too, in Phx, so no big loss in the standings.

I liked Kawhi's D on KD. He was right up in his grill once the ball got over halfcourt. I loved his hustle and physicality.

I can't believe Fisher is still in the NBA, let alone playing decent minutes for a contender. He got 4 fouls in 3 minutes and that's about it.

Too many minutes for Ayres. Anything above zero is too many in my opinion.

We sucked from deep.

Westbrook was awful. Jackson and Ibaka killed us. Collison's energy and offensive rebounding was a big difference.

Duncan sucked again. He's not having a good season so far, though he did have a nice pass late in the 4th...too bad it was to the ref.

The rims seem stiff in Chesapeake? I concede that we just didn't shoot well at all, but there seems to be less "give" on them than in other gyms, particularly in contrast to AT&T. No wonder KD is such a lights out shooter, you almost have to have a perfect shot for it to have any chance of going in.

We couldn't hit a three to save our lives. We were due for a loss, I'm not too concerned.
