GT: Mavericks vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Wed Jan 8, 2014 5:23 pm

When: 7:00 PM ET, January 8, 2014
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

Second of a back to back for us and its going to be against a tough Mav's team. But if TD can dominate the paint like he did last night this should be an easy win.

Go Spurs!!

Marco is unstoppable off of screens.

Good first quarter the Mav's offense has been awful, hopefully it stays that way.

Back and fourth first half. Both teams look a bit tired.

Timmy with a double double already with 10 minutes to go in the third. Spurs are looking good right now.

Dallas is outmatched. Belenelli is killing them. Blair played decent in the first quarter and is invisible since. Looks familiar.

Duncan, TP and Marco were all great tonight and Ayres put in a solid effort on the glass.

Baynes looks like he has lost all confidence again. He was the last guy off the bench tonight in a blowout. Splitter II......

I really like Danny with the starting unit. It forces Parker to be more aggresive, because he obviously can't rely on Danny to create shots for others. Basically, our defense is better to start the game and we have a more aggresive Parker.

Danny coming off the bench is pretty much useless. It means that about half of his minutes are againts guys who aren't major scoring threats. His best quality is his defense and he's not out there defending anyone worth defending.

Marco off the bench, his defense isn't exploited as much and he's getting good looks. Furthermore, he gets a lot of his baskets off Manu assists. He doesn't play as much with Manu when he's starting. Also, Marco off the bench enchances our passing from the second unit. Marco, Manu and Diaw on the floor early in the season was simply awesome.

Not arguing that Marco doesn't deserve to start, I just think it brings better balance to the team.

I kinda agree with you but when Danny was starting the offense was terrible to start games which led to the bench constantly have to play catch up.

Marco is far better off the bench but the starting unit has been better with him than it was with Danny.

Eh, Green blows this year while Beli doesn't. If Green's shot isn't falling, he's basically useless out there. At least Beli can run an offense. Pretty easy decision for Pop.

Does anyone else feel like me in that I was not worried at all that Manu was out because I love the way Marco is playing?
I know Marco is no Manu in his prime but he is definitely the better of the two in 2014.

Green hasn't improved one bit. He is exactly the same player as last year only the league now knows to keep him from shooting uncontested threes. He's decent defensively so I would start him when the matchups is favorable. (meaning against teams that play crappy perimeter defense)

I think you both severely underrates his impact defensively with the starting unit.

Green was never an offensive player, other than his Finals performance, he wasn't even considered the team's best 3 point shooter. Nevertheless, his presence on the floor still provides spacing, much like Bonner does.

Green is an above average defensive player, and obviously our best option at guarding smaller quicker guys at PG. Kawhi's much better guarding the Durant/Carmelo type than the Chris Paul type.
