Re: GT: Spurs vs. Wizards
I like Randy Whittman. He has that team playing well.
With that said, I think we need this game a little more than they do right now. The end of the rodeo trip is going to be tough so hopefully we can string some wins together on the front end against the East.

Won without Tony Parker. Danny Green played decent. 40+ minutes for Timmy is not good to see, even in an OT game.

No one saw this? I'm surprised nobody mentions this. Green violates the 8 second rule. Did not get the ball passed the halfcourt.
This possession ended up with a Danny Green corner 3 pointer and officially put the game out of reach.
I uploaded the picture to flickr but couldn't find a way to upload the image to the post.

Okay I don't know how to attach a picture. But the play happened in the 2nd OT with 1.29 left in the game. Spurs up 119-117 and Danny Green failed to get past the halfcourt. Shotclock is at :16 and he's still in the backcourt.

You have to be trolling. No ref's gonna call that when Green isn't even being pressured. This must happen thousands of times in a season. No-one wants a ref blowing the rulebook every 5 seconds. They play advantage to keep the game flowing most times. They also shouldn't change the way they call the game because it's close unless it's getting chippy.
Imagine the ref thinking, "gee, Wizards have a chance here, Green is taking 8.3 seconds to get over halfway, I better blow it for their sake." Wiz already had a bazillion calls their way as it was (see TD's 6th foul).
Luckily, for the revenue department of the government, speed doesn't kill.

Re: GT: Spurs vs. Wizards
Anyways, What a win.. Didn't see Parker aggravate the injury, but I think this is the first I heard about Parker having any injury associated with his back. Pop already said he's out for the Brooklyn game. Can't imagine Duncan playing in that Brooklyn game either.
Usually, back problems are recurring. I just hope this isn't the first of many.
Patty Mills was our MVP tonight. And for all of Danny Green's stupid shot selection in this game, his defense was huge.

I couldn't watch the game here so I only watched highlights. I didn't see that play live but co_laper is right. It is clearly a back-court violation and should have been called. A rule is a rule. One of the things I hate about the NBA is that they feel the need to change the rules on the fly depending on who is involved or what time in the game it is. As a competitive league, it would be better if they called the game based on the rules without changing them mid-game. I understand it's all about appeasing the so-called fans and making money but I'm getting tired of the NBA trying to become a mini WWF.
With all that said though, I'm not sure if the referees use the shot clock as a countdown to the back-court rule. I believe they keep the time themselves. At least they used to.
I hope Parker decides to skip the ASG because of the injury. I'm guessing he wont but I hope he does.

They call it when the shot clock hits 15 and in a situation like that no ref would have the balls to call it anyway.
