Becky, Next Spurs Coach

Post#1 » by co_laper » Thu Jul 16, 2015 8:03 pm

I really feel this way now. The Spurs FO values character so much that I think if a player actually have problem with having a female coach, then the Spurs won't want them anyways. And with Coach Bud unlikely to return to the Spurs, I really see Becky taking over for Pop when Pop retires. I can't think of anyone better either to be our next coach.

Messina, i just have a hard time seeing him as our next coach.

I suspect the timeline is wrong for that. I recall reading a story about Aldridge's recruitment where he asked if Pop planned to see out his contract (4 more years, IIRC), and Pop replied "Yes". Pop's word is good... If Becky continues to do well, someone will recruit her by year 3 ...if only for the publicity and marketing statement.

It's possible but things change quickly and if Pop's is going to be sticking around for the next 3-4 years who knows if Becky's still even with the team when he retires.

Brett Brown should be available when Pop hangs 'em up.

I really hope he doesn't get screwed over in Philly. He's actually a pretty good coach.
