SAN ANTONIO – Peter Holt is retiring as chairman and CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment, the Spurs announced.
Holt’s wife, Julianna Hawn Holt, will handle both duties, the Spurs also announced.
Peter Holt had held the posts since 1996 when the Holts became the largest shareholder in the franchise.
Peter Holt will remain on the SS&E board of managers and continue as part of the ownership group while Julianna Holt will serve on the NBA’s Board of Governors.
“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved over the last two decades,” Peter Holt said in a statement. “The championships are wonderful, bringing new sports franchises to San Antonio is important, but the biggest accomplishment for me will always be the impact we’ve had in our community. The pride, support and love that our city has for the Spurs is truly amazing.”
Kinda of a shocking move considering that it's midseason. Peter Holt did so much for this franchise and this league, he will be missed.
