The San Antonio Spurs have been notified that Tim Duncan has decided to opt into his $5.6 million contract for 2016-17, but that he's still undecided about whether to return for a 20th NBA season, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Michael C. Wright.

The story was first reported by The Vertical and confirmed by ESPN

Looks like we're getting at least one more year of Timmy!

Good news. His only good knee really bothered him last season. Let's hope he comes healthier this season to help more offensively, because we all know that his impact on defense is still elite.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

I'd love to see us get someone to start the 5 so Timmy can come of the bench for about 20 a night. I think his days of being able to play starter's minutes for an entire season and still be ready for the playoffs are over; better to keep him fresh for the second season.
