GT: Lakers vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Wed Apr 5, 2017 3:11 pm

When: 6:30 PM MT, Apr 5th 2017
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio TX

Our lasting meeting of the season with Sammy second favorite team the Lakers!

The Lakers have been tanking pretty hard since the deadline so this should be a relatively easy win. We need to stay focused and we can't play down to their level. We play our game and we'll win this one easily.

Go Spurs!!

Fully expect Parker, Gasol, Leonard, and Aldridge to play less than 20.

Heck, depending on how one sided it is, 15 minutes.

Oh, man... this one stings. It double-stings, because it's the Lakers.

I didn't get to see the game, but from the looks of the box score, either Pop decided the big three were going to run limited minutes, or the rotation did such a good job erasing LA's big early lead that he decided to roll with them. Either way... ouch.

If you were able to watch or listen, let us know what went wrong.

Well Pop said he didn't want to play his guys in the 2nd half since it was meaningless. Would have liked to see Kawhi play a few in the 4th though since it was tied but oh well.

We lost this game = We still 2nd seed and going no where
We win this game = We still 2nd seed going no where

We got off to an absolutely terrible start. Missed a ton of open shots, lots of sloppy turnovers and just a whole lot of bad basketball. We made a game out of it but that first quarter was embarrassing.

In the end this one really doesn't matter but it still stung. That first quarter should of never happened.

A few positives to take away from this one:

- Kawhi - No one else seemed to give a **** in the first quarter but he clearly cared. Made some big plays on the defensive end and really showed off his passes skills in this one with 3 or 4 gorgeous bounce passes in transition (that was to Bertans was outstanding).

- Anderson - Was super efficient and made a lot of nice plays on both ends.

- Bertans - Made his fair share of mistakes but also made some shots and played aggressively.

- Forbes - His stat line is kinda ugly and he didn't really stand out. But he played through his mistakes and really showed that he belongs at this level. Comfort and confidence are the two things he needs going forward.

The bad:

- The sense of urgency - I know most of the starters knew they were going to sit most of this game but we came out flat and got embarrassed by one of the worst teams in the league at home.

Winnable game but in the end it doesn't really matter. We probably should of just sat Kawhi and LMA, there was no real point in them playing.
