We're interested in Stanley Johnson and Willy Hernangomez Apparently

Post#1 » by Nolan » Fri Feb 2, 2018 5:50 pm

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/248812/Spurs-Interested-In-Trading-Stanley-Johnson-Willy-Hernangomez

The San Antonio Spurs have interest in trading for Stanley Johnson and Willy Hernangomez.

San Antonio assistant general manager Brian Wright held the same position with the Pistons when they drafted Johnson.

Hernangomez has been mentioned in trade rumors this season as the Knicks have excess depth at center.

It's strange hearing about us being involved in trade talks during the season, this usually isn't our style but I like both guys and they could be solid buy low options for us.

What would we deal though?

Stanley Johnson is horrible. Please no!
Hernangomez looks good every time I see him play but for some reason the Knicks NEVER play him so that is a red flag. Maybe its just the Knicks.

I agree we need some type of big because Joffery isn't anything close to what I had hoped.

I still think Julius Randle would fit in nicely and give us some athleticism that we lack but I don't know how we could get his contract to work. I think he is a RFA this summer is he not?
Plus do we have anything the Lakers would want besides a 26-30th pick?

RC Bufford is the most overestimated GM of all time.
I cant believe he left Spurs this year with Murray and Anderson as PGS.
I mean what that guy has done over the past 15 years except picking Leonard?
Absolutely nothing. He owes everything to Popovich

lol what? Murray and Anderson are excellent players.

RC also drafted George Hill, Tony Parker, Manu, Splitter, CoJo and so on. Picked up the likes of Mills, Green, Bowen, and Diaw off the scrap heap. Guy is one of if the best executive in the league.

I'd rather move Mills and his contract but I know that would be super hard to do....
Forbes gives us everything Patty is giving us but plays a little better defense.

Hernangomez is under contract for next to nothing until 2021 if I am reading HoopsHype correctly which makes that move very attractive.

Yeah I'd be all for dumping Mills as well but it doesn't seem likely at this point. I'd even throw in a 2nd or two for Willy. Forbes isn't the best fit with the Knicks but he's a better fit than Willy currently is.

I wonder how they'd get Stanley considering both teams already got 15 roster spots filled up. Unless they are considering on waiving someone...

Stanley is intriguing and perhaps an insurance in case Danny decides to walk?

Feels like Forbes or Paul are the ones being offered up. More so Forbes, he's been a pleasant surprise for us but once everyone gets healthy his minutes are going to disappear.

What can I reply to this? Have you been watching other games , other teams what kind of guards do they have?
Not only they cant score anything but they cant pass anything as well, they are non- existing guards who have no impact at all. Even Brooklyn found Dinwiddie. Lakers. Utah, many many teams with quality shooting guards and point guards. Blazzers etc. Its not exaggeration if someone said that Spurs have the worst duo of guards in the league right now. And they dont seem to care about it.

What do you mean he didnt pick Leonard? Didnt he trade for him with the Pacers? Wasnt he the GM then.?
Anyhow that was his only , unique good moment in the last 15 years of his career. He is not only an overestimated Gm, but actually very BAD.

Traded for him, which isn't the same as picking him. And I have feeling you don't watch much of the Spurs, trolls aren't all that welcome around here.

You are wrong. I have been watching San Antonio for years, and it has been always one of my fav teams. I felt the need to say something after watching them collapse the last 2 months. If it wasnt Pop this team would have been outside play offs.

From the beginning of this season the thing that surprised me that was how this ..overstimated man called Bufford thinks that this team can go forward with the injured 34 year old Parker and with Murray and Anderson running the show.

All the previous seasons it was the healthy Parker who just saving the backcourt line again and again every single year , and Spurs stuff was watching him to get older and older without actually doing anything to replace him. Dont you think this is the GM's fault?

They drafted Murray. And now he is starting. Isn't that replacing him?

This isn't NBA 2k where you can trade Parker for Russel Westbrook when he gets old.

Anderson has been one of the most productive and reliable players on the team this year. And again, he isnt a point guard.....

Whew! I'm kind of glad we didn't pick either one of these guys. Lets see what the buyout market brings.

I wouldn't of been against paying what the Hornets payed for Hernangomez, a little extra rebounding and post scoring would of been nice, but I'm also fine with us standing pat.

As always another boring deadline for us.
