Post#1 » by G R E Y » Tue Apr 10, 2018 12:14 am

WHERE: AT&T Center, San Antonio, TX

WHEN: Monday, April 9, 2018 7:30PM CT

Forty-eight minutes of all out on both ends.

Looks like Danny is back in the starting line-up with Kyle coming off the bench, so: Murray, Patty, Danny, Pau, LMA

As for who is not on the roster, it’s still “...and then there was one.”

We need focus, precision, and execution for forty-eight minutes.

I’m superstitious and so I think that a thread ought to be started by the same person who started the last one we won, so this is in the Nolan-style with some Sammy thrown in for good luck and counter-jinx.

Also, seeing as how this is our last regular season home game, Spurs fans get dibs. Just saying...

Plus, it’s Fan Appreciation Night!

For three quarters, I was stupefied at how stupefied the Spurs looked during that time. Then I felt my heartbeat in my earlobes. Then the Spurs woke up in the fourth quarter, played defense, and finally put together some cohesion on offense to make shots.

Starting the game with four 3 attempts was ominous. It was either going to be a blowout or a grind, and with Rudy's almost too self-assured post-game comments after the Portland win, I got a bad feeling, like we were in without having played today's game yet, like we were going to feast on the Kings. It turns out instead we definitely were getting in our own way with uninspired - maybe nervous? - play for much of the game. Even with LMA's 15 (plus 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks) and Patty's 15 on low FG% games, and the rest of our starters, Pau, Murray, Danny, combining for 10 points (yikes!) we needed all the help we could muster from our bench.

Cue the comeback from GOAT clutch Manu, with Rudy playing with intensity in the second half to cut a 14-point 3rd quarter deficit and turn it into a 13-point win.

I would have started the same players we've had going for a while for consistency. It just felt like we were out of rhythm early for whatever reason, and the line-up seemed to compound that. Kyle (8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block) started in the second half, and we got back into a better cadence.

Bryn (11 points on 4-5, team-high +25), who had been getting regular minutes the last few games, sat the first half for some reason, and when he came on in the second, he was a difference maker - timely moment to make some clutch shots and play great defense.
"He did an amazing job," Ginobili said of Forbes. "Not only to make shots it's easy to see the 3s or the two big shots he got, but he played very solid defense, he was a pest chasing them around. We really changed the game when he was on the court."

Rudy (18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block) got that fire in his eyes at some point and just took in upon himself to get us back in the game.
San Antonio outscored Sacramento 50-25 after Gay entered the game with 6:38 remaining in the third quarter.

Manu: 17 points (5-11, 2-6 from 3, 5-5FTs), 6 rebounds, team-high 5 assists, and a steal.

Oh, and one more highlight dunk:

"For moments we felt like the worst team in the NBA," Ginobili said, "but we still managed to go close to 50 games and make it to the payoffs in a conference that is tough and talented and young and athletics. So, we managed to compete."
