Mills is not a starter. I’d throw White right in the deep end and sink or swim with him.

I'm actually pissed off about this. Sure its bad luck but injuries happen. I understand this.

I'm pissed because just like last year, we are going to have to rely on Patty Mills way too much again and that is a formula for losing basketball.

I really get the feeling from the recent interviews, including Patty's, that Derrick will start. Patty mentioned that he's got a good chemistry with the second unit and fits with its different style of play. Derrick is a calm facilitator, assertive driver, and has a good shot. The long season may get to him, but at some point we'll get Lonnie back, too.

The news is a shock and disappointment when it first hits you, but I don't think it's all doom and gloom, and hope we shore up the defensive end (and O rebounding) either by guys stepping up and/or getting a hard-nosed defender to fill in. With our system, the guys here will be pushed to give more on that end than anything.

If this is the case its not all bad. I really don't hate Patty. I just like when he plays around 20 minutes only and is used to hit spot threes off the bench. When we ask him to do more its a disaster usually.
I really don't think losing Murray will effect us in making a playoff run if we don't have to rely on Mills to start. But losing him makes us that much less capable of making any serious noise in the West I'm afraid.
Barring injuries I thought we could be a 2 or 3 seed if things went right. Now barring any more injuries I think we are a 4th or 5th seed at best.

Derrick White I'm looking forward to seeing.. I really like his play when he gets solid minutes..

He's like a smaller (wing-span) but bulkier, less athletic version of Murray... both can rebound, defend, score, handle the ball, and have quickness. Unproven shooters that have the chance to get better there.

Glad he's on the roster and think he'll eventually be a bright spot to steady the position.

Mills shouldn't start, he's better off the bench or as a spot starter where more spacing may be needed.
The Playoffs don't care about your Analytics
