I know he has a lot more skills and positives out there but Poeltl is Splitter 2.0 for me.

No faith in him in big moments and no hope of him going up strong when required.

Then there's his free throws.

Unless we get a superstar big next to him, he shouldn't be a part of our future plans.

Yeah he's definitely improved and he's definitely got limitations. But so does Gobert, right? (The point stands about whether a mostly D minded C with no range and poor FTs can anchor a championship team - for us and even for them).

But we are clearly a worse team without him at this point in our development - the first four months of year one in the first rebuild in 20+ years. And it's not as if Jakob is untradable; we've set the price at quality young player and first round pick. I think PATFO see what we do and even more, and despite his importance to us at this stage of where we are, there's still a reported base price for him.

We're going forward with the current roster with base requirements for just about each player and we're comfortable going forward with this group for now unless or until we get what we seek. We keep raising the floor until we can break the ceiling open be it through draft, trade or FA/RFA.

Next season - his last in this deal - will be interesting...
