Anderson's decision to remain in the draft was probably a good one as he will likely find a spot in the late first round, and it's hard to know how much he could have improved his stock by returning to school. The Spurs may have to adjust their philosophy of drafting players for years down the road, as their window of opportunity with Duncan appears to be closing quickly.

They don't even give a reason why the Spurs would be interested in him...

Anderson will be picked in the second round. Either Rush, CDR, or Lee should be the Spurs pick in the first round.

There are very few scenarios in which the Spurs try to move up in the draft. I applaud them for making a real attempt at moving up, but the chances of it coming true are not good.
One scenario that I would like the Spurs to investigate is trading picks with the Cavaliers. It might sound crazy at first, just trading the 26th for the 19th (including some incentives such as cash or a future 2nd rounder), but the fact is that the Cavs are in dire need at the point guard position where they can use Mario Chalmers, but drafting Chalmers at the 19th would be too high. So one trade that I can envision is:
Spurs Receive:
19th pick(used on Marreese Speights, Darrell Arthur, or if they feel as though they need to focus on the swingman need, they can tell Cleveland to select Donte Greene, Brandon Rush, or Nicolas Batum)

Cavaliers Receive:
26th pick(used on Mario Chalmers)
cash

But in the case that we don't trade any of our picks, I see us selecting either Mario Chalmers or Chris Douglas-Roberts.

I would love for that to happen.... but they are also looking to move up in the draft. they don't have any 2nd rounders but I think if they want that, they can just trade with the Sonics.

Somehow trading up enough to where we could get my man Arthur (just adore his game), or Speights (whose weaknesses should be lessened on this team) would be just great.

I think Arthur's more of a late lottery, mid-teens guy, though.

we dont have assets to acquire another pick from most teams. we might (and its a big might) be able to buy a pick off one of several teams. but its a big long shot. it would depend on whose on the board when those teams pick, and whether or not the spurs would be willing to shell out the cash. team that we might be calling:

washington - may be close to the tax line after resigning jamison and arenas. i doubt they have much interest though. maybe a pick swap + 2nd(s) + cash deal, but probably not an outright sell.
cleveland - well over the tax line next season. but they need more talent around lebron, and have over 30 mil in expirings next season. doubt they are looking to sell or swap.
denver - in tax hell. but they too could use some more talent. but with resigning jr smith, they may be 15+ mil over the line. add in lawson pulling out, and i think they are the best bet for selling a pick at this point.
seattle - different situation from the others. they arent in a tax crunch, but they do have 13 picks in the next 2 years! id think they would rather make a consolidation trade then sell, but with our FO connection, we might get first bid if they decide to sell if their board is picked clean.

I think this year we need to be proactive.

Washington might be willing to trade down and thus save money... perhaps our 1st round pick and a 2nd with a trade exception. We might have to take on a contract like Booth in order to move up.

Cleveland is a no go in my opinion...

I agree with you on Denver might want to trade down instead of selling their pick. I would offer them the same deal as Washington.

We have some pull with Presti and maybe we can buy their pick... ironically enough from their PHX pick who is always known as a team that sells picks.

After an initial two-week period acclimatising in Las Vegas, Jawai worked out in front of scouts from the Golden State Warriors, Seattle, Sacramento, Phoenix, Denver and Utah.

French swingman Nicolas Batum, projected to be a late first-round NBA draft pick, stopped participating in a workout with the Toronto Raptors earlier this week after a stress echo test -- a treadmill test that measures the health of the heart -- came back in the "borderline" area.

Ford: Mock draft

ESPN Insider Chad Ford projects the first round of the NBA draft in his latest mock. Story

"There is an issue with Batum, and nothing is clear," his agent, Bouna Ndiaye told ESPN.com on Friday afternoon. "The number [the score on his stress echo test] could be a borderline problem if he had a family history of heart problems. But I talked to Nicolas's mother and she said his father didn't die of a heart problem. His team in France and the French national team test him regularly and said they've never seen any indication that he had a heart issue."

A Sports Illustrated report in February said that Batum's father, Henry, suffered a "massive heart attack" and died at the free throw line while playing pro basketball in France when Nicolas was 2 years old. According to Ndiaye, Batum's father died of an aneurysm, not a heart attack.

More bad news for Batum... I see his stock dropping.

For #26 this is who I like (no real order):

J.J. Hickson
Ibaka
Jason Thompson
Courtney Lee
Batum
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Robin Lopez
Roy Hibbert

I don't expect us to because of others, but I wouldn't mind at all if we did take Mario Chalmers. Who is a stud role-playing athletic combo guard. I'd be glad to have him on this team.

Rush isn't going to be there. If he is, that's our guy.

#45: Big man that can defend and rebound (if we draft a wing-player at 26), athletic wing-player (if we draft a big man at 26).

#57: International prospect? American speciality/situational prospect?
