1ST Q: SPURS 22 HORNETS 38

So we were down 11, Doug comes in with a couple of 3s, we're withing 5! Then we allow points upon points for a whoppoing 16 point deficit.

12-0 run for them to finish the Q - end of Q details.

Not terribly impressed with Jakob who looks like he didn't touch a weight all summer.

And JRich for all the summer workout videos was far less than responsibly crisp.

7 TOs and 2-11 from 3 makes for the recipe we've got - a lot of bitter stew.

We need to get into a far bigger competitive gear. Maybe it's first game jitters but with the 1ST Q out of the way, we should just err on the side of letting loose and energetic.

Better inside D, both man and help, nice juice in transition, still clanking 3s.

Head up, Devin!

Another run allowed, 8-0, and with 4:55 left in the 2ND Q we now have what they ended with in the 1ST Q.

We are WAY too soft, man. Getting stripped, pushed around, beaten back door, down the court. OOF.

2ND Q: SPURS 47 HORNETS 68

Well it was a closer Q, 30-25, but we allowed another 30 point Q.

Misses will happen. We don't have any complicated sets yet, are relying on reading and responding, running some two man games, P&Rs, DHOs, etc.

But we're bleeding points all over the place - points off TOs 18; fast break points 11-3; points in the paint 36-30.

Because in part of our TOs and their pace, they have 55 to 47 FGAs, and they're connecting on almost 10% better efficiency.

We STILL have only 2 made 3s, now on 16 attempts.

We mostly look too tentative and not as cohesive as even during the pre-season games missing key players.

We need vets like JRich and Jakob to set the tone with responsible assertive play, Keldon to keep doing his thing, and Devin to wake up on O. He's hanging his head too much with the misses.

Sochan looking good with all around contribution on the boards (already 7), putbacks, transition, switches, pocket passes.

Adversity from the first. Response from the first.

Pop's been stoic on the sideline but you have to think some fire needs to be lit along with some uplifting encouragement.

Sochan blocked twice now. Exposing the ball too much on the layin.

Tre more assertive, using his body to protect the ball on drives, angling the ball in.

Primo 3 miss, they make a 3, 6-point swing. Timeout.

I do like the energy and push and confidence we're no in the latter half of this Q.

3RD Q: SPURS 75 HORNETS 98

Well we were up by our biggest margin this Q but they went off on a 13-0 run to end the Q (END OF Q, DETAILS, GENTS!) to win the Q 30-28 and get yet another 30 point Q.

Irritating.

We will have to do better to string positive consistency for longer stretches.

Feels like Primo is the designated (self or otherwise) end of Q shot taker. Has yet to make one. Good that his ankle tweak wasn't so bad and he stayed in the game.

We need cohesion and a very quick mental recovery rate.
