Why cant Champaigne ever be out???

Dev a touch hesitant in his decisions makes for a split second delay and D adjusts and teammates have to make up for it.

Not as on a string as we've shown but Dev has it in him to speed it up.

2 steals in a row is good D attention.

And yeah we're not a live or die by 3 team but settling for it time and again.

We need more movement and variety on O.

2ND Q: SPURS 47 LAKERS 58

Allowing an end of Q 3 while leaving a good shooter open sims up this half.

We're allowing 50% efficiency from the arc on too easy shooting. Meanwhile we're settling for, resorting to 3s without enough movement or imagination or effort to create other shots.

We put enough up yesterday to have some more energy but can't get our O going. 41% overall on 6 fewer attempts and a poor 33% from 3. 8 TOs. And getting thrashed on the boards 25-15, including 6-3 on O boards.

Dev warmed up well to give us 12 points on 50% shooting and 2 consecutive steals. Very solid after Castle couldn't score and is mired with 3 fouls. Did a good job getting to the FT line, good D though.

Our starting back court is 1-7 and 0-4 from 3 so we need more from them and from the team in general.

Shot distribution is more equitable, not as Wemby-centric, but it may need to be as our supporting cast isn't providing as crisp a contribution as we need them to.

Both teams are on a travel B2B and we're the younger one. We have more fast break points 11-8 and more points off TOs 10-8 but need to do a better job in key areas - protecting the arc, protecting the rim, and protecting the ball.

Hopefully as Dan is saying now we continue our good trend of heeding halftime instruction and adjusting to come out strong in the second half.

Mate I must concede he's been terrific this season. Our starting 5 of Paul, Castle, JC, Barnes, Wemby tops positive points differential (I think that's the stat, I'll have to find it). Anyway, agree he's not a starter but he's been better especially on man D and drives. 3s as streaky as ever.

The video the other night where we actually passed the basketball around on offense and it kind of looked like old Spurs basketball ending with Champaigne hitting a three.

Most causal fans see that clip over and over and over and see Champaigne hit the shot and think "Hey, he must be pretty good!" They dont see the 5% good, 95% bad plays this guy actually makes.

He was 1-8 from three that night. That was the only one he made. HE IS NOT A GOOD PLAYER!

And 0-4 so far tonight. But as we type he got a key O board that led to a second chance 3, contributions that outside of his 3s shooting were non-existent before. He's finding ways to contribute on both ends and it's what's keeping him higher up in the rotation.
