Castle physical drives. Wasting no time. That king of play works better with Wemby off. On, he has to pass quicker not dribble as much.

I like the Nets broadcasters. They actually call the game objectively and get excited when either team makes a good play.

2ND Q: SPURS 69 NETS 48
Wemby quick post moves, zip passes, devastating blocks, and transition 3s.
Dylan a burgeoning revelation two way monster.
Keldon bully ball and O board beast.
Guys running and spreading the floor and moving well.
Castle and Dev over dribble at times. Very good in transition and Dev off ball.
Team much better shooting with 50% from 3 and 17-20FTs. Also only 7TOs, despite it looking like twice that early.
Better synergy. Keep the foot on the gas!

3RD Q: SPURS 88 NETS 81
Brutal Q. We will have to learn to keep the killer instinct on 10 when up big, especially looking ahead to a game tomorrow.
The last play was attention to detail error - we double the shooter, he passes, we leave him open for an end of Q 3 against
Lost this one 33-19 after pouring in 38 in the 2ND. Inexcusable.
ISO ball, 4 guard rotation not running anything, some wanting their moment.
Castle hero ball AIN'T IT.

Pesky friggin' Nets.. needed that win after strong road start, on home opener. Down 4 key guys though.

4TH Q: SPURS 118 NETS 107
Somewhere between Oh Yeah! and Phew!
Had some shades of yesteryear breakdowns but finished with new resilience.
I didn't like the mental vacation that evaporated our 26 point lead, nor the over dribbling by sometimes Dev and more often than I'd like already Castle.
Interesting how Dev pushed his game too much when Castle came along and now that Dylan is already subbing in for Castle, it feels like the latter is pushing to keep pace.
But going ISO without a teammate touching the ball in half court is brutal to see. And with predictable results. Downhill, they're all terrific and showed it today. But better, quicker decisions initiating the O has to be shown in film. We can't have guys standing around watching one teammate get lured or forced into standstill, run the clock down handling. Or dribbling up the ball when teammates are already ahead.
Dev adjusted very well. Was terrific off ball, got into open spaces, and pounced on that steal late for a crucial 4 point swing. Dylan is a natural PG who is already looking like he's calling the future about his impending arrival. Castle at the 1 needs the type of running for team O I just mentioned, at least in this game. And once again, FTs, mate.
I was surprised Wemby finished with 31 14 6 blocks, 4 assists, and 3 steals. This after struggling to get through a very crowded high D glue coverage. Once he adjusted to making quick moves with the ball it was off to the races. He just racks up stats like crazy. We of course do not win this game without him.
But it was truly a team win.
Keldon is a damn FORCE and we need him to bring the bully ball, rim touch, screaming for rebounds and after putbacks energy. He has been patient and resilient going through different roles on the team, growing before our eyes as our emotional center and ultimate all around contribution glue guy. He gave us an efficient 19, 7 (tied for team high with Barnes 3 on O), 1, 1, and crucial 7-7FTs.
We were led on bench scoring with Dylan's 20 on 8-11, 4-4 FTs, 6 boards, team best 8 assists, 0 TOs. For the second game in a row, he sensed we needed a spark and went on a one man two way mission to give us just that. You can't teach that. What a debut. So poised and crafty and talented. I don't watch hardly any college basketball, and so knowing or hearing a player is top 2 worthy and seeing why is a revelation. Thrilled we have him.
We had six Spurs in double figures and came back to win game we probably would have let slip through our fingers, but for the second game in a row, stayed resilient and made enough good plays on both ends to pull away. And we did it without our starting PG, second best defender, back up C, his back up, and a sharp shooter.
Dev played within himself, didn't try to do too much on O, and used his two way skills to better energy and effect as a result. An efficient 16 and team best 4-6 from 3.
Castle I thought tried to do too much with the ball and going away from team concept is not a good strategy for us. I appreciate the dog in him effort but hope that he like Kelson and now Dev before him does away with the at times tunnel vision. 13 on 59% shooting is steady though shot selection needs some film work.
Champie came through and we did a better job getting him open chances. Very efficient 13, very good sneaky off ball ready to shoot or drive plug and play player.
I'll repeat this respectfully - Barnes looks a touch slower and when he's not making 3s it's rough out there. Something to monitor. But then again, what options do we have right now? Almost all our bigs are out! It's also why Wemby had to play a team high 36 minutes. Wish we didn't need to after blowing the big lead, but hopefully he'll be good to go tomorrow and we get some much need front court reinforcements back.
Make our FTs better, play more team ball. You can tell we are still working on our team synergy but we have ice blood talented dogs on our team. Wr found a way to win. Much rather the lessons of what to improve come this way as it's its own lesson as well.
We don't win without Wemby, but also without the full team contributions. Nice to see that coming along. And that we found a way to win on Pop's banner hanging game.
