It really sucks that Barry had to go... he was one of my favorite players.
I am kinda iffy about the 1st round pick in 09... but given that we not had anyone contribute as of late as a 1st rounder it isn't exactly unexpected. I would have rather given up this year pick given that Splitter would come in this next year.

Ignorant would be turning a blind eye to the things that he has done over his career.
Off the top of my head:
- beaten his wife up (how noble)
- punched a fan (sure, a Pistons fan - but still)
- requested time off DURING A SEASON to record/promote/whatever some CD that sold maybe 100 copies
- sabotage an entire franchise (Ind) b/c of his boneheadedness
These are all character flaws/issues that would need to be addressed if he were to be a key component of a championship team.
I love his game, but he reminds me too much personality wise of Dennis Rodman, and Spurs fans know how things turned out between him and Pop.

It is a safer move by spurs... especially if splitter turns out to be as good as he is projected.
You have to agree that ron artest is a riskier move as you never know what he'll end up doing next. It was definitely worth a shot to become favorites, but spurs are also looking at the future so they don't want to give up a future prospect that is looking like a great player.

Sasha Vujacic = The Phail Machine = The Ring Blocker
Trade Sasha before he ruins the Lakers next season.

I really like that we get KT...just what we need to make a run! allways fellt, that he is a typical spur and now he is in black and silver!
hate to see barry go...he did so much for us and now he is going "home". (can we pull a silent stackhouse?)
even while artest would have been interesting, I really prever us getting KT, going the sure way!
good stuff RC

sonics fan here. congrats guys. i never fully appreciated just how good thomas was until i had a chance to watch him night in, night out. i will miss him, he was a great mentor for seattles youn guys. but i am happy he will get his shot at a ring, he deserves it. this guy is a total pro in every sense. san antonio is the perfect team for him, you guys are going to love him. maybe not a flashy or sexy move ala kidd/shaq/gasol, but a solid move. and that just about sums up your team, solid, professional, steady.
as far as barry goes, he is a fan fave up here. but my guess is you might be seeing back in a spurs uni in about 30 days.
again, congrats and good luck the rest of the way.

GREAT pickup for you guys, congrats. This just makes an already potent defensive team that much stronger on their frontline. I wish the Pistons would have gotten in on this sorta deal.

Yeah, Luke. That'd be ideal.
Alright, time for some clarity...
I meant since the brawl. Sorry, I should of specified. I absolutely agree before the brawl, his stuff has not been overblown.
But, coming from somebody who has followed Ron significantly since 2004 and since he's been a King, him being a nut a lot and a "cancer" absolutely has been overbown. Being a cancer hasn't even been there at all, actually. It simply has no credibility. I can't step off on this because of all that I've come away with over those years. Doing so, would just be ignoring the actuality of what's gone on.
The one and really only thing of note, was the house dispute incident with his wife (which has been mentioned). I was very surprised myself when that happened. But, what shouldn't be overlooked is from all that I've read from the Sacramento media he and his wife are okay again.
The trade demand I thought was the best thing for both sides, to move on. Despite not being done the right way by Artest. It was a tough situation in Indiana. And over-time (excluding the wife incident), he really has bettered himself quite a bit.
