I just hope we start getting back to defense instead of offense. The moves this team made this season made it impossible for us to be a better defensive team than the ones in years past.

Bruce demoted to bench minutes. Starting Roger Mason. Starting Matt Bonner.

Parker's biggest problem with the Dallas series was that we didn't have enough players who can create for themselves. All of our players need to have plays made for them to get good looks. If the Spurs listen to Parker, I think we'll go after a more offensive minded player again this year and probably a younger one since the FO wants to start getting younger. I sure hope I'm wrong and we go after the likes of more defensive minded players even if they're old. Guys like Camby and Rasheed is probably our best bet to get better chance on the title next year even if it doesn't improve our team for our future.

I like the idea of going after Camby, the Clippers are going to be looking to unload him and i'm sure he'll come for cheap. He'd take alot of pressure off Duncan on defense and give us some extra rebounding something that you can never have enough of. I don't know if Camby alone would put us back on top but he would defenitly be a good start to that process.

I just read on ESPN that Camby still have 2 years left on his deal worth like 12 mil per. Does anyone know? I kinda remember that the reason Clips did the deal with Denver was that Camby is an expiring and stuff. Or atleast something like that.

Camby has another year left at about $10M.

Only way he becomes a Spur is through a trade (Bowen, Oberto and Hill?) or he gets a buy-out.

But from an outsider's POV, that trade doesn't improve the Spurs chances, unless they can sign another scorer.

I would be interested in Marvin Williams but he isn't likely to sign a MLE offer.

Nah, he had a good year in ATL after looking like a bonafide bust before that. Not much chance he'll sign for the MLE.

Like Turnover King said Williams is not going to be looking for more than the MLE and he's not going to be worth it. He's a combo forward that can't play either position very well.

Spurs' pick, C Robertas Javtokas is a free agent this summer. Unfortunately for Spurs, it seems that CSKA is interested in his services. You know, CSKA is full of money.

Nobody mentioned Gortat yet: I reckon he'd be perfect MLE investment for you (unless you believe in some miracle 2010 plan, which is IMHO plain wrong) and - barring everyone's healthy - could bring you back to WCF (but not past the Lakers ;-)).

I like what Gorat brings to the table and I think he'd be a great fit next to Duncan. He's the the type of player we need to bring in someone who can give us some energy, rebounding and toughness.

I think one players who should be on top of the Spurs' list this summer is:

Charlie Villanueva - Young, can score in bunches and can create for himself. One of the best passing big men in this game and a good rebounder. I would make him my no.1 priority. Although he is a RFA, Milwaukee is not going to match since they are right at Luxury tax and must sign Sessions and their draft pick. CV is going to be shown the door for sure. If he can be had around 4 mill, that's super value. Spurs need to get younger and CV should flourish under pops and develop a low-post game under Duncan. The spurs need a scoring big who can create nightly mismatches and CV is that guy. A 6-11 forward that can put the ball on the floor like a guard, he can be the inside-outside scorer to open up things in the low block for TD.

I like Charlie but probably not as our biggest addition for the year. He's not going to make our defense better, and I'm starting to question how many shots will a new guy get on this team with Manu back.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but what about Wally World?

CV would not flourish under Pops, not at all. We don't need a guy like CV, we need a center thats willing to hustle, get garbage buckets and play defense tio put next to Duncan.

If Drew Gooden can't be resigned by the Spurs as the backup PF, they could the Spurs take a chance on Mikki Moore or Channing Frye as potential backups until they can come to a resolution on the Splitter situation to see if he'll be able to come thru next summer or not?

Based on the little I saw of Mikki Moore in the playoffs, no thanks. Frye is an interesting prospect though.

I'm all for resigning Gooden though.

Gooden looked pretty good for us and I really hope we re-sign him. Having him and hopfully Ian gets himself right.
Then we can explore some trade options with Oberto and Thomas. I'd like to keep Bonner around just for some spot minutes with his J.

I want Gooden back too, but i wonder how much it's going to take.

He signed for one year with us so we have no bird rights or things like that. Signing him for more than the minimum means that we'll be using our LLE or MLE. He'll cost more than LLE and I think could command the full MLE judging from his career averages. If it takes the full MLE, then that means we basically have no new addition for next year. It'll be the same exact team.

And if Gooden comes back, I want him in the starting lineup. Not Bonner/Oberto/Thomas. Gooden should start getting 30 minutes a game.
