Terrific ATO and execution.

Great assertive Barnes pass to a cutting spinning Wemby for the dunk.

Wemby back flip PASS to Castle for 3.

5-0 run.

Castle drive against 3 defenders. Another bad hero ball decision. Damn it.

Wemby runs quickly to the rim.

Castle look off.

Next time down, Castle barrels at defender. Gets foul, but like who wastes Wemby minutes?

Champie the defense liability out late. Good call.

We have Steph, Dylan, Dwv, Barnes, Wemby finishing rhe game. 3 & D and ultimate weapon on the court to bring it home.

Sometime in the next couple of weeks, teams are going to learn that the way to beat the Spurs is to play 5 out and spam 3's. I don't care what the box stats say, Wemby in the paint just scares players from trying to score inside.

4TH Q: SPURS 121 RAPS 103

So both teams were on the back end of a b2b, and while our first game was earlier and we didn't have to travel, we were by far rhe more depleted team.

Wemby was uber efficient, picking his spots to pick apart the D. He dazzled with handles, defied rim attempts with his rangy presence, led by example in getting teammates involved. 24 on 7-8, 10-10FTs, 15 boards (2 on O), 4 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, game high +35 in 31 minutes.

Which segues into the Castle rant. I don't think any of his assists were to Wemby despite plenty of chances, unlike Wemby passing to an open Castle for a late game 3. That Castle so deftly passed to an open Barnes late in the game for two consecutive 3s reminds us Castle is fully capable of both seeing open teammates and passing to them quickly.

And yet he spent much of the game over dribbling, looking off teammates, and instead barreling into multiple defenders time and again. It's like he was playing with hitting his own targets in mind first and then, maybe, giving others a taste. There were too many wasted opportunities where we did cardio to get to open spots only to watch him ISO ad nauseum or TO trying. Really disappointing and frustrating. Neither the second highest on the team 22 points nor the +17 fools. Game high 5TOs, and 9-14FTs remind that he was gunning for his.

I hope he regroups and locks the **** in because having your own agenda ahead of team play is not what we're about. Hopefully Mitch reins this **** in. We have to trust a starter getting high minutes with the ball in his hands a lot will make the right play. That trust was not there tonight.

Dev is quietly settling into a good two way contributor, playing within himself, getting to open spots, better more balanced and upright yet still compact release on his 3s. Castle, take note of Dev when he's not forcing it and Keldon before him in still getting his. Both are melding their pet ways of scoring to within the team concept to the benefit of both player and team.

Just as I've written Barnes off too soon he has another efficient scoring night, including nice reverse drives. Champie can't make a layup. Worse efficiency than his 3s. I kid. Just. But we need them hitting 3s and we did a better job finding them at the arc, with Champie going 1-4 and Barnes 4-5. Barnes also ties Wemby for starter high 5 assists.

Dylan led us with assists again, 6 in 27 minutes. Love his poise even with rookie mistakes built-in to the equation. He is already so good at snaking downhill through defenders, drawing them in and kicking out to open shooters. Also had 6 boards, 1 steal to only 1TO while chipping in 11 on 4-9, 1-2 from 3, 2-2FTs. Dylan may not be bringing up the ball late, but his time is coming sooner than expected, that much is already clear three games in.

Happy for Carter to get his first official pro points. Quality make up block after the bad pass TO. Kid has springs for legs. Great timing and motor. Always beings the D. Strong foundations.

Keldon is the perfect complementary do it all glue guy. No complaints. All energy. Can contribute in a variety of ways and dis so efficiently at the rim, from the arc, with rebounds.

Mitch didn't have a lot of depth to work with and balanced the b2b minutes very well: 24-32 minutes for the main seven rotation guys, three in low to mid teens, and the third stringers finished the game in the last two minutes.

We are down to Wemby and Bis up front. So to keep finding ways to win despite another 20TOs (cost us 22 points), to keep opponents below our league best 104ppg allowed, and only 20 rebounds (1 on O!), is over all a good result. 29 assists and 36FTAs (made 30) are good as well.

It's hard enough that we're thin in depth. Let's not make it harder by guys playing their own game counter to the team concept. We're in this together.

The turnovers were out of control the past 2 games. We've really started the season very sloppy and so many forced shots won't cut it against good teams.

That said, I've heard it said that Wemby has anti-curry gravity, meaning that he severely shrinks the court because of his defense. We are already seeing him completely ruin advanced stats (theres a thread on the main board about this) and it's why we can have 20TOs and still be dominant all game

I'll also note with Wemby, I knew he was going to get doubled, but raps tripled him nearly every play and he still was able to score on high efficiency...its honestly insane to watch!

Grey, definitely agree with you about Castle forcing shots and he really is showing himself to be more of a slashing 2 guard than a PG. That said, I was happy that he was aggressive again tonight because he also creates gravity on offense. It was crazy seeing Sean Elliots replay when Castle had ALL FIVE raps guarding his penetration. It's clear that teams are going to be honing in on Castle so he HAS to learn to take advantage of that with his passing.

Continue to love watching Vassell and Keldon become the glue guys whenever they are in lineups. Our chemistry would be quite bad without them IMO. It's also nice to see Castle, Harper, and Keldon all show hunger on the glass which really helps minimize our lack of bigs.

Barnes is...odd to me. In some ways, he's a nice 3pt threat out there but even this game where he was great offensively, he was consistently picked on defense. It was pretty much the Whoever Offense if they were against Barnes. We can't have a hole like that...not as a starter.
