Well...definition of good teams find a way to win. I felt our offense was actually quite off. Credit to the Heat, for keeping their defense on a string and forcing us into shots we don't prefer. Adebayo specifically did the best job on Wemby of anyone this season and forced him into several fadaways and pushed him off the block. Also got a bunch of steals or deflections when he would dribble. Wemby looked visibly frustrated that he couldn't get what he wanted despite being aggressive, which is why he was probably so emotional at the end.
Vassell also was pretty poor tonight and was reverting to quick 3s with 20 on the shotclock instead of setting the offense. He, and others, weren't looking for the roll for Wemby leading to a bunch of missed 3s instead of easy dunks. Maybe the Heats swarming defense was in their heads?
Barnes....man. We have to figure this out. He got absolutely picked on and was generally a net negative out there again. Idk where we are with the Sochan contract, but we really need him or Olynik(?) out there instead.
That said, it was encouraging seeing our guys rally and answer back at the end and Castle had probably his best game of the season. His defense is truly elite and combined with Wemby...that's a scary thing. Loved seeing him get his legs under those 3s too.
Harper has looked the part on defense (especially help D) and seems the game has already slowed down for him a lot. Glad to see his 3 ball looking better than people predicted coming out, though his shot selection could be better out there. There was one sequence where he was Isoing and took a side step 3 without anyone else touching the ball...he's better than falling into patterns like that. LOVE him running Point out there with Castle as the 2. Really good balance
Can't believe it's our first 5-0 despite all the Robinson and Duncan years. I know it's been a pretty easy starting schedule but you have to win the games in front of you, and am thoroughly enjoying watching this team come together. Probably the most fun I've had watching the NBA since Duncan retired
