This trade reminds me of last season when the Celtics traded Bol Bol to the Magic for a couple of seconds. The reason is similar to relieve some pressure off their luxury tax bill. I'm surprise that Noah Vonleh is even in the NBA at this point. At least this is a buyout for the Spurs. Personally, I don't think the Spurs are done. I'm of the impression that McDermott and Richardson will be moved before the trade deadline ends next month. Poethl, I'm not so sure. Then again it depends on when the Spurs rebuilding plans ends and adding solid free agents began sometime in the future.

No reason to risk further injury! We've seen a PPG rise of around 7 to around 20, three-level scoring, leadership, good D. He's done enough to earn an extension this summer.

An unhealthy Devin is no good to us this season, much less in the following ones :D

Yeah I think the Dieng/Noah transaction is the first domino. I think JRich is our best next candidate. He's also been putting on a great showing of his two-way play, even driving and dunking O rebounds! Drives are his least used 2-point shot, so he's expanding his game, tempting for teams looking for 3&D player who can run teams and make clutch shots.

Doug has an extra year on his contract at $13M. He's a sniper and our best off-ball mover, so a specific floor spacing and shooting threat but he's not known as a two-way player.

Jakob has his FT shooting and floor spacing issues, and although he's never going to be an arc shooting threat, his FT's are better, he's efficient in the shots he takes, can score in transition, and is one 9d the best defending and rebounding bigs in the league. Oh, and on an expiring contract.

It also just so happens that Doug, JRich, and Jakob are our top three contracts this season.

I think we want to keep Jakob. So unless we get blown away with an offer, aka our asking price gets at least met, we have the cap space to re-sign him this off-season. He likes it here, too, so familiarity and a bigger role work in our favour.

Diop or Roby may be included in some deals...

Stanley Johnson has looked great for us, too. Maybe another team will think so, too, and take the plunge to offer an asset.

I think at least JRich if not Doug and one of the other three mentioned may be traded.

With an extra roster spot, we can absorb more players and contracts if they come with incentives to do so.

Or depending on what other trades are made, we have more room for players in the G-League to come up for the rest of the season ie/ Blake Wesley, Dominick Barlow, Charles Bassey.

It's long been thought that the second half of the season would be an even bigger focus on youth. We'll see. This first domino, and all that follows, is part of it.

Exactly what I'm saying. Get the procedure done now while you can instead of trying to get through a meaningless season and doing it in the spring. Tanks aren't all bad.

Who do you think should take his place? Romeo has done so previously, but I do hope that we call up Blake and incorporate him more.

Who do you think gets traded? We have a roster spot to fill with either trades or call ups...

Well, we already know who Langford is (Future HOFer) so I would lean toward learning about someone else.

I hope we can get something, anything, for Richardson and McDermott. Even an empty shampoo bottle and a used piece of toilet paper would be an improvement. But NBA GM's are dumb so we should be able to better ourselves with a pick or someone else's project that didnt work out.

We just released Dieng and Vonleh so I think that says we are keeping Poeltl unless we get a home run deal.

For the record, I am up for trading anyone on this team if it somehow gets us closer to Wembanyama

To J-Rich, I would not mind the Grizzlies acquiring him as he adds some substance with his two way game to go along with his athleticism. Plus he's a vet and fairly young so it helps.

I rather the Spurs keep Jakob unless they feel if they have no choice but to trade him if a better deal comes along. This team put a lot into Jakob's development during his time with the Spurs. Sure at best he's a likely third to fourth option player on a contender. There is trust and chemistry between both sides. Perhaps it will be a good deal to keep him.

Doug's skill set could be useful for a playoff team either off the bench or for starter's minutes. It's just a matter to what the Spurs want back in return.

Not surprising. I hope we keep him ultimately, but if the offer is too good to pass up, I understand:

Robinson could still put up double doubles at 57. What a supreme athlete.

And yes, definitely sell high on Poeltl. He won't have a position in the league in a year or two the way this crap is unfolding.
