I see Avery as the best coach for us in the Post-Pop Era..

I don't really think NJ and Avery is a good fit. Avery probably needs a defensive minded team driven by a young star PG. They say he's hard on the PGs and a lot of it is him trying to teach. In a way, he's closest to the PG of the team. And I don't see Avery as a genius offensive coach so it has to be a defensive team.
I really think Chicago or New Orleans was a much better fit. I really don't know about NJ. One thing for sure thou, they can't do much worse record-wise than last year.

He coached Devin Harris in Dallas, so he knows what he's getting at that position. NJ were better than a 10 win team, or whatever they ended up getting. They should've been around 20 to 25 wins at least. But I agree that Avery is a questionable choice for coach.

I will say that even if NJ can't attract any Star FA, if they're able to push the tempo, it'll be a fun team to watch. They can have a very defensive minded group (Lopez, Favors?, Williams, Lee, Harris) while also being very athletic and IMO those 5 guys complement each other very nicely on the offensive end.
Avery fits in better with a team that is perhaps just barely missed the playoffs or one of those fringe playoff teams IMO. I just see Avery like a Scott Skiles kind of coach. Very disciplined, defensive minded, hard on his PGs. Borderline playoff teams is where Skiles and Avery fits best because they're just guys who can really push a team with marginal talent and play their best.

He'll have his work cut out for him, that's for sure. He might try and trade for Dirk before the trade deadline when his team is 5-30 though.
