CP3 is in SAS!!!

Post#1 » by michaellam_1986 » Thu Jun 24, 2010 9:31 am

There is a rumor that the NOH front office is now willing to trade CP3, while the spurs is thinking trading TP. Why not make the trade between them?

Spurs get CP3, Okafor and Posey

Hornets get TP, R.Jefferson, Hill, Blair and Spur's 2011 First Round Pick

Why for the Spurs:
They go all in for the championship contention before the windows of Timmy and Manu closed.
CP3 is arguably the best point guard, Okafor can give the inside help to Timmy which is missing since David Robinson retires. Posey becomes Bowen and handle the defensive role. The starting lineup of CP3/Manu/Posey/Timmy/Okafor is sick and can compete for the lakers and the championship!!!

Why for the Hornets:
With the cost saving mode of the organization, this trade unloads ALL the long term contracts for the hornets. TP can at least give them some competitive power to maintain attenance while Hill and Blair are both very talented young players. Jefferson is a huge expiring contract which can be traded later for more assets. The pick helps in the rebuilding process.

TP/Collison
Hill/Thornton/Peterson
Stojakovic/Wright
West/Songalia
11th Pick/FA

Obviously, an additional trade is needed for the crowded backcourt.

Any idea?

Way too much to give up.

Okay, we upgrade from Parker to Paul, but then we gave up all of our youth (Blair and Hill), a future draft pick, while also absorbing Emeka and Posey's contract? That's just too much.

Giving up Parker is obvious. One of the youngsters is fine. Perhaps Blair because NO already gets Parker back and has Collison there. We might also take one of their bad contracts. Either Emeka or Posey but I'm thinking Posey. Posey has a smaller contract and we have a need for help at the perimeter. We take Emeka only if we can't sign Splitter.

so to me the fair value (in my eyes) is Parker, McDyess (2 mil buyout in his 3rd year), Blair for Chris Paul and James Posey. Spurs then use MLE to sign Splitter. Probably won't be enticing enough for NO.

CP3/Manu/Posey/Timmy/Okafor
This line up might be great, but tell me about our bench..We will trust in Gee, Hairston, Mason and Bonner. haha, ye' sure..
With all of this trade rumor's we are discovering how overrated was TP in the last years, or just how underrated is now?
If we sign Splitter, we will be good with our big people. We have the deficit in the SF or SG position. So stop trying to trade Parker for a big guy or worst TP AND Hill for a big..

CP3 said he will ask for the trade if NOH don't spend the money in making a good tittle contendant team. He is just saying: "Start working now on something good", not "I want to leave, let me go".

Giving up Hill AND Blair? No thanks. Chris Paul is great but Okafor and Posey are two of the worst contracts in the league.

How about keep Hill in SAS, the lineup would become

CP3/Hill
Manu/J.Anderson
Posey/Mason
Timmy/Bonner
Okafor/Splitter

I know the bench seems to be a bit weak, but Manu can return to his sixth man role and lead the bench.

Thats looking a little bit better. I'd probably end up going for that trade if thats the lineup we were left with.
Hopefully after signing splitter we could also get a decent 3 man on the cheap as well for some depth

Is CP3 really that big an upgrade of TP?

Paul is the best PG in the league, so I'd say it's an upgrade.

CP3 lead his team to a WCF. Parker did his job, but never in that kind of role. It's an upgrade.
But i'd rather not doing this. We are swaping too much players and that's not good for a team that needs to work in pop system.
SAS will need to be rebuild, but not this year. We will talk about some big trades or free agents if Jefferson and/or Parker are gone next year.

I agree. I think we're swapping too much players. It's not like we have lots of ways to add a player this summer. After this trade, we'd be 8 deep and filling the other 7 roster spots with D-league players. Even and injury to our worst rotation player will hurt us like losing a starter.

The Hornets have never made the Finals in either conference, even when they were in Charlotte. In 2008, he lead them to the WC semis, and we beat them in 7 to advance to the WCF.

Ideally we could do this deal and keep Hill. But CP3 is too good to pass up over Hill.

CP3 was a top 5 player in my book last year this time.

Tim Splitter and Okafur would give us the strength we need up front for the Lakers. Adn would allow Tim to rest without crippling us.

Guys like Pargo, Arroyo, Flip Murray (who can play 1 or 2) could be had to backup CP3.

Our fate would ride on Manu's health.

Yeah. Those two are our future. No way I want them out of here unless it's for proven talent.

spurs need more youth on their team. trading both hill, blair, and a 1st round pick sets that back at least another season. they'll get good players in return, but give up all their youth. prolly cant still do a trade similar but not by giving up hill, blair, and a 2011 1st round pick

Lakers will have him in a trade for Walton+Vujacic+S&T Morrison+draft pick.. Like they did with Gasol.. Cheaty trade..

We can offer Tony Parker and some young guy like Hairston, Gee, Temple + some pick..Good deal for everyone..

Return to San Antonio Spurs
