To behonest I've always love the Spurs and I'm a Laker fan. I love the style of basketball you guys play, your players are amazing to me and Tim Duncan came from my college too. So my reason for posting on your page is that I want you guys to pick up Shaq. I know most will say hell no but I would really love to see him and time Duncan team up together. I would also love seeing Tim play PF rather than Center too. I know you guys just brought over Tiago Splitter and I know he's a good player because the Spurs drafted him and we all know how the Spurs draft. I just want Spurs to be on top with the Lakers and I think adding Shaq (for his size) something the Spurs were lacking last season would help out a lot.

Spurs
SF:Jefferson/Gee
PF:Duncan/Blair/Bonner
C:O'Neal/Splitter/McDyess
SG:Ginoblil/Hairston
PG:Parker/Hill/Temple/Jerrells

So basically you said all that because you want us to pickup Shaq?

I'm glad we didn't sign him.

Same here.. The only way I would want Shaq is if we couldn't sign Splitter. But with Splitter on board, along with Duncan and Blair, resigned Bonner, and also McDyess who was arguably our second best big in the playoffs and did not disappoint IMO, we have zero need for Shaq.

I sort of understand why the Celts rolled the dice on him - Perkins is out till Feb 2011. But no, we have no need for him and the negatives outweigh the pluses at this point.

Makes sense for Boston IMO.

Perkins is out till Feb and it's hard to assume that when he comes back, he's ready to play 36 minutes a game. He's not likely to be 100% for this season. Rasheed retired. They only have Jermaine O'neal so they need another Center. Plus, that team lacks a lowpost scorer. Shaq is a great fit for them if they're only counting for 20 minutes a game.

Damn, there are not so many Spurs fans there, are there?
I mean this is a very good topic, picking up SHAQ is a way to make Spurs run for a title more legit than last year.

I know you guys don't have a whole lot of time like any younger teams in the league, but we are not mad if you sign one or two older players to play with Duncan and teach the young players such as Blair and Hill how to be great.

Parker is the only chip you guys can trade, and looks like this year will be another 2nd round exit.
Well, good job on Splitter but Manu's health is a big concern.

Spurs board has a solid 5 fans. Its glorious

I would have loved to see Shaq in a spurs uni especially for the vet min. With all his baggage thats great value. Good pick up by the C's.

I definitely don't see how adding Shaq is good for us unless it was for the minimum. I'm guessing if Shaq wanted the minimum all along, he would've been in Boston a lot sooner. Boston is definitely a better fit for him than SA.

Plus, you kidding me about Shaq teaching the young guys like Blair and Hill how to be great? At this point, Shaq is a primadonna who thinks he's still the MDE, unable to take care of his body, injury proned, and has character issues (relationship with former teams are always a mess). That's hardly what the Spurs need to mentor their youngsters. Shaq's personality is too big for this team. His signing will be on par with the Dennis Rodman thing a decade ago. It won't work out.

I thought we had more regualr posters than that. But when I started counting I realized thats pretty much spot on.

If we didn't get Splitter signed I might have been okay with bringing in Shaq, simply because we need someone to play center. But with Splitter on board I really think Shaq would be a bad fit.

Boston's a good situation for him. With Perkin's out for the majority of the upcoming season and the fact that Jermaine O'Neal is just an injury waiting to happen. The Celtics needed another big body capable of playing major minutes and Shaq will give them that.

Signing Shaq had the same positives and negatives as signing any former star. They all generally have the ability to contribute, it's just a matter of how easily they accept their new role.

I for one think that Shaq will be a great guy off the bench for Boston.

Who are the 5 guys? Me, Nolan, Sapuro, Donald, Rasho? Is that everybody?

Pretty much. We have a very low bandwagon factor, despite the multiple championships.

Shaq wouldn't help at all. Did he help the Cavs? The Suns? He's done helping teams.

EDIT: I just notice you're a Warriors fan. I can't give you any crap, you got it bad enough as it is.

Shaq has done his dash as a legit force in the NBA. I agree that he would have been an interesting pickup if the need came. But with Splitter and Blair on board i'd much rather fast track their development with minutes in the game rather than hand 20 or so to Shaqtus
