A thought

Post#1 » by starbuck785 » Sat Aug 14, 2010 7:17 pm

Just a thought if he isnt signed what about Devean George good role player has playoff and champ. experince. Hes a big SF can hit the glass well good not great D but could fill a void in our second unit.
Just a thought He might be signed I dont know and if we are still lokking for another physical big theres Malik Allen and Josh Boone maybe they could hook in to the rotation and I saw that the Raptors waived Dwayne Jones he saw some time with us last year correct. He is a good shot blocker which we need to pair with TD. Anyway Ill roll out and not bore you any more.

George is done and I don't think we need another big, although Boone and Allen would be decent pickups.

James Singleton's a guy I want. He's an outstanding rebounder, a pretty decent defender, good hustle player and he's got a decent mid range jumper. He could be a good 10th or 11th man off the bench for us who could give us 7-10 minutes of energy off the bench.

I never liked george very much. Not that he wouldn't be an ok pick up but when you start talking about the 10th or 11th player on a team it really doesn't matter. I would just as well pick up a project type player and mold him.

Yeah I was thinking maybe one more guy with the playoff exper. Im all for adding young talent to the roster and I figure adding a big could help Timmys knees and I long for another shot blocking person in the lane. Nobody thinks we need another big I just want another shot blocker to help Timmy maybe Splitter will be that guy. Only time will tell I guess.

It's not that I don't think we need another big, but the question is who is the shotblocker we can get and whose minutes will he take. Between Duncan, Blair, Splitter, Bonner, and McDyess, there are no available minutes for any FA bigs on the rotation unless his name is Marcus Camby, and he's not a FA.

As for George, I don't mind him. The big thing George or any other veteran FA Small Forward is as an insurance policy. Face it, if we start the season and out of bad luck, RJ blows his knee and miss the whole season. We're left with playing SGs (Manu or Anderson) playing out of position full time for the whole season. Guys like Gee and Anderson are too inexperienced to start and play huge huge minutes. Atleast, Devean George can give us a solid 20 veteran game at that position. He rebounds, he can hit threes, and he plays within his game. I don't mind him at all. I don't mind guys like Bobby Simmons either. But unless it's because of an injury to RJ, I personally rather have Manu play RJ's backup minutes because we need George Hill to get some minutes at both guard position.
