Re: Expectations from Splitter?
The only numbers I'm concerned with are Splitter's minutes per game. If he gets consistent court time, and Pop doesn't get unnecessarily infatuated with Bonner, Splitter should produce.
My expectations of him is that he takes some of the load off TD and provides a threat in the low post.

Re: Expectations from Splitter?
With all the effort the front office have gone too, and the patience shown i would like to think Tiago would have some licence early on.
My major worry with Splitter getting alot of minutes early in the season is the fact Bonner got a stupidly large contract. With a paychecck that big he'll almost certainly start on opening night.
If Splitter gets about 20-24mpg i'd like to see him with about 10-12ppg/5-7rpg.
If he plays well enough he'll be a shoe in to start come the end of the season

Re: Expectations from Splitter?
I doubt he begins the season as a starter but i'm sure he'll take over as the starting center around mid season. Hopefully he gets around 20 minutes a game and I think he'll average about 9 and 7 in his first season.

Re: Expectations from Splitter?
For me, the most important thing in Splitter (and Blair) is if they can play good minutes without Tim Duncan and Spurs don't suffer Timmy's minutes on the bench.
I mean, if they can play really good D and make offense run w/o Tim.
Don't really care about Splitter, Blair numbers.
And i'm really expecting some big contribution on D and good plays between him and Tim cause of their high BB IQ and good passing skills.

Re: Expectations from Splitter?
I just want him to play defense, he does that and we're looking good. Interesting note the Spurs were actually projected to win more games last year than in '09 and this is with last year's disaster of a front court. Timmy was still able to lead the Spurs to a top 10 defense. Now if Splitter is as good as they say he is defensively, then that will make everyone's life easier (which was the main problem last year). I have a good feeling about this team I really do. This could possibly be the most talented Spurs team offensively.

If you ask for Mcdyess...
McDyess prepared for different role with Splitter's arrival

Veteran forward/center Antonio McDyess said he's ready for a change in his use with the arrival of heralded arrival Tiago Splitter.
McDyess was impressed with Splitter's offensive arsenal after practicing with him on Tuesday.
"He's really good," McDyess said. "He's really strong and posts up strong. He goes hard every play."
Many Spurs players struggle in early practices because of Coach Gregg Popovich's demanding offensive and defensive philosophy. But Splitter was a quick study, according to McDyess.
"He catches on quickly," McDyess said. "I was surprised how quickly he caught on. This is a tough system to learn and he was catching on."
Splitter's development could make McDyess' usage change. It's a situation he said he's willing to adapt to.
"I don't know what my role will be, but whatever it is, I'll take it," McDyess said. "A guy like him has to be on the court. I'll take a backseat to him any day because he's a heck of a player. "

McDyess is a class act and i'm glad we have him. There's not many players in the league that would say things like that.
Also i'm happy to hear the Splitter's catching on quickly.

Re: Expectations from Splitter?
He will miss 7-to-10 days while undergoing a rehabilitation program, at which point the team will set a firmer timetable for his return.
That's what the article says. IMO Splitter has the most to benefit from this training camp. The faster he catches on to things, the quicker he gets comfortable with the team, the NBA, and everything else. Now he's likely to miss it, and who knows if it's gonna effect him after. If this injury made him weaker on his posts up and everything else McDyess raved about, it's gonna be obvious to the coaching staff. That alone could effect his minutes if they see Splitter being hesitant on his game.

I would like 10 and 7.... with a good defender on the pick and roll.
I hope later on in the season he can become a starter and play enough to save up Timmy in the post season.

This is realistic and I'd be happy if this scenario played out.
