Erick Dampier

Post#1 » by starbuck785 » Mon Nov 8, 2010 4:17 pm

Could move Duncan to the 4 spot and have another shotblocker and rebounder. Would add depth for the center spot and much needed height

Dampier Splitter
Duncan Blair Dice
RJ Bonner
Manu Anderson
Parker Hill

He would of been a decent pickup but he signed with Houston last week.

I've just learned that both parties have backed out of the deal Dampier agreed to. But I just don't see where he would get minutes on this team.

It would be a good pick up. He can start or come off the bench for the Spurs. All depending on how Splitter's role plays out.

We don't really need him, plus you have to wonder why he hasn't been snapped up already. Apparently the Heat were interested until he interviewed down there and said some things they didn't like. They lost interest pretty quick.

And then it was a done deal with the Rockets last week, and now nothing? Something's not right there.

I'd rather stick with what we have with our bigs.

Apparently he's really out of shape.

Hey if we draw the lakers, blazers or nuggets we dont have the size to match them think about it
we go 2 7footers(Thats if splitter pans out and Im sure he will) and then Bonner 6 10 and dice 6 9 then Blair maybe 6 7 I just thought one more big thats 5 fouls. O well just a thought maybe Josh boone or Maybe a trade I just feel we are to small across the front line

That's the thing: no way Blair is 6-7, more like 6-4. He's barely taller than TP. Red Rocket is tall but doesn't play tall.

Blair was measured at 6'5.25" at the combine without shoes and 6'6.5" with shoes.

I like him. I think he would provide some much needed bulk in our front line cuz let's face it, Duncan and Splitter are thin as rail and Blair is a midget. He could be there just to push people around and knock guys on their asses that no one else on this team could. I do want Blair out now. Preferably for a legit perimeter defender. He has to have some value considering his pretty successful rookie season. If we can get Damp and a James Posey or Battier type then I'd say we're good to go.

True. Spurs lack a good perimeter defender. They should've re-signed Bogans or sought out Raja Bell. They also need one more big defender though not sure Dampier is the answer.

No to Bogans or Bell. Neither of them are helping us win a championship.

During preseason I thought we needed someone like Bogans or Bell. But with the way Neal, RJ and Anderson have been playing i've changed my mind.

Apparently the Suns and the Heat are interested in Dampier.

So no word on the Spurs being interested as well? I really don't understand what the Spurs front office is thinking. Here is a guy who even at 35 is a better post defender than most of the bigs that we got and interior defense was and continues to be a problem this year. Why don't we get him? I would think that Dampier wants to win a ring and if we continue our great start to the season we have to be viewed upon as a legit contender. The Spurs environment would get rid of any extra baggage that Dampier might bring.

No interest from the Spurs.

I really think there's got to be a reason so many teams have passed on him. I heard he was out of shape but there's got to be something else going on as well.

I've heard that he's a head case or something but I don't see this front court being good enough defensively to win a title with. Last time I checked our defense is rated 10th and that's not gonna cut it if we hope to contend one last time. I've heard all this talk from the players how this is our last chance to win a title and what is our front office doing to show for it? Our offense is freaking amazing but you can't win a title without great defense and we don't have the players to do just that.
