You guys have any interest in Jeff Foster?

Hi there Spurs board. I'm a Pacers fan, and we're very open to many different kinds of trade right now. One of our trade chips is Jeff Foster, formerly one of the league's best rebounders and best post defenders. He's older now, and has lost a lot of his quickness, but the guy is still a decent big man in backup minutes. He's the longest-tenured member of the Pacers, and has been a fan favorite for a long time. We likely wouldn't trade him to some **** team, just because he holds that much respect in the organization.

The best team for him would logically be the Spurs. Jeff is from San Antonio, and I'm pretty sure you guys could use a good backup big with tons of playoff experience like Jeff.

The obstacle to a trade is that Jeff is expiring, and we really don't want to take back anyone with money next year (bonner, mcdyess, etc) unless there is some incentive.

Would any of the following deals work for you?

Foster for Mcdyess/Splitter

Foster/DJones for Mcdyess/Splitter

Foster/Djones/SJones for Mcdyess/splitter/bonner

All of these deals save you money, and the only key piece you're giving up is splitter. Would we need to include a pick of some kind to offset the splitter part?

I just think Foster would be perfect on San Antonio and I really think you guys have a great chance to win the championship this season, but you need better backup bigs than antonio mcdyess and matt bonner. Maybe I'm totally wrong, maybe I'm just desperately trying to steal splitter from you (whoops, I said it!) but do you have any interest in foster?

Foster would be a good fit but we just don't have the assets to aquire him and we're not giving up Splitter for him.

I don't think it makes sense to trade for Foster now.

McDyess is quite possibly our best big outside of Duncan this year especially with Blair being inconsistent, Bonner simply a 3 point shooter, and Splitter not getting minutes. As a TD sidekick, Dice provides the best defense and ability to spread the floor. He's not what the Spurs view as a throw-in just to make a deal work. Plus, Dice is basically an expiring contract. Read his recent article and it says if the Spurs want him back, he'll seriously consider it. Basically if the Spurs don't want him back and view him as an expiring, then that's what he'll be. If the Spurs see his ability as a bigger asset, then they'll ask him to come back. But it's certain that Dice is not what the Spurs look as a contract needed to be moved.

As for Splitter, no way. I STILL wouldn't trade Splitter for Foster even if the salary is even and Indiana includes a 1st round pick.

I'm not saying Foster sucks cause he doesn't. I understand he's a strong rebounder and plays tough defense, but at his age and with his contract, it's unlikely that both sides can strike a deal.

I don't see where he would fit in. We already have a big that can stretch the floor in Bonner and the only way I see us picking up another big is if its someone that can give us minutes at center.

The best option for the Spurs is if Dalembert gets a buyout. He is someone the Spurs should take w/o a heartbeat! A shot blocker/defender and good rebounder with a decent 7-8 ft jumper though he is only defensive minded. He would fit in with the Spurs perfectly. The Spurs wouldn't have to worry about depth with their size anymore especially when they go up against the Lakers or Celtics. The only weakness i still had with the Spurs would be their size still going up against the two teams, so this would take care of that issue.

The only player I would love to wear the Silver-Black from the Pacers is Paul George!

Murphy can play some 5.
