I read it before : this is a players league not a coaches or managers league.
Guess Deron got what he wanted. Anyway sad day for NBA.
I just hop Pop never has to go through this ordeal.

Bottom line for me is Sloan quit. He'd been there forever. He's arguably the best coach in the league even without the rings.
The maybe the biggest problem with the team was that they gave Kirilenko a max deal. That deal caused them to lose Boozer and Wes Mathews Junior among others - like Sloan. That deal has handicapped the team and they became a worse team because of it.
Regardless of what the media says Sloan quit because he is mad at ownership. He may be mad at Williams too. But management didn't give him what he wanted.
Williams would leave Utah if he could too. They have the 6th highest payroll in the league. What do they have to show for it?

I don't get it...didn't he just sign an extension? Makes no sense. Anyway, looks like he clearly lost the respect of the playing group and they weren't responding to him anymore. He's one of the all-time greats but he was never able to get his teams over the top.

Wow this kinda came out of nowhere. I guess he just had enough, but he doesn't deserve to go out like this.

It's really sad to see such a legend go like this in the middle of the season. I've always respected him and always liked the Jazz and always thought they were running pretty fascinating offensive sets. I guess seeing this makes me hope Pop calls it quits before it's too late, especially when I go to the Jazz boards and see some people celebrating Sloan's resignation. It's sad. I guess whenever Pop decides to step down I'm going to be sad but I'd better be sad than have to deal with morons calling for his resignation.

http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursnation/2011/02/12/the-mailman-blast-utah-players-for-role-in-sloan-resignation/Legendary Utah Hall of Fame forward Karl Malone ripped members of his old team for their role in leading to the resignation of his old coach, Jerry Sloan.
“They changed the floor back to old school. They changed the uniform back to old school. Somebody tell the damn players to start playing like old school,” Malone told the Associated Press before the Jazz hosted Phoenix Friday night. “It may work. They spent a lot of money on the rest, now how about you tell the players. I’m just calling it like I see it.”
Malone said he has exchanged phone messages with his old coach. He also blasted some national analysts and players who were critical of Sloan, who resigned Thursday after 23 years coaching the Jazz.
I completely agree with Malone on everything. And for him to come out and say this publicly also means alot considering he's one of those dudes that hates the spotlight and the media.

It is crazy that he left like that. There is no coach that I respect more than Sloan.

Utah might miss the playoff. I think Memphis will make the playoff in place of either Denver or Utah.
