Offical Trade Deadline Thread

Post#1 » by Nolan » Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:18 am

The deadline's coming up on Thursday so I thought i'd make a thread for us to discuss done deals, players you want to go after and potential trades.

I think its going to be an interesting deadline with a ton of action. Now that the Melo deal is finally done I think alot of domino's are going to start falling. Golden State have been actively looking to add another wing player, Devin Harris is rumoured to be on the block same goes for Aaron Brooks, the Celtics are shopping for another wing and i'm guessing Denver is going to try to move some of their veteran players and possibly even Nene.

Yeah, everything was hinging on what Melo did, so now some moves can be made.

Will Mayo be traded, now that Gay is out? Prob not.

Are the Nuggets going to move any of their newly acquired pieces, or finally trade JR Smith?

Apparently Portland are keen on moving Camby and Miller.

And the Grizz are "aggressively" shopping Thabeet.

I heard somewhere that the C's are interested in Battier...who could they possibly trade to get him.

And then there's buyouts. Rip Hamilton is rumored to possibly get the remainder of his deal bought out by the Pistons, with the C's reportedly keen on acquiring him. Don't he and Ray Allen hate each other?

Kings just dealt Carl Landry to the Hornets for Marcus Thornton and David Andersen. Love the deal for the Hornets. But i'm not sure where Thornton fits in with the Kings though.

And it looks like another deal is about to go down according to Adrian Wojnarowski via twitter.

http://twitter.com/#!/WojYahooNBA

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Golden State and New Jersey near agreement to trade Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright for Troy Murphy and 2012 second rounder, sources tell Y!

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
If G-State completes deal for Murphy, it's expected he'll get bought out and become a free agent. Then? Orlando, Dallas, Boston, Miami etc.

Not bad for both teams, they both clear some cap room to make bigger deals.

I'm guessing Orlando will go after Murhpy and they'll go after him hard. He'd be a great fit there.

I thought Thornton and Collison were their backcourt of the future? So much for that.

I like Landry but don't see how he fits. Isn't he a PF? They already got West.

D-Will to the Nets for Harris, Favors and 2 1sts. That deal came out of nowhere. I like it for both teams though.

Apparently the Blazers are very close to aquiring Gerald Wallace. But no one what the Bobcats are getting in return.

Sloan and D-Will out of SLC in the space of two weeks?! WTH? This trade was totally unexpected.

Kirk Hinrich just go dealt to the Hawks for Mike Bibby and Mo Evans. Great pickup for the Hawks, Hinrich will fit in perfectly there. Word is the Wizards are going to buy out Mike Bibby, wonder who's going to pick him up.

Also it sounds like the Heat are trying to get Brendan Haywood from the Mav's for Mike Miller and filler but the Mav's aren't interested.

I really like the deal for the Jazz though. Both of those picks are unprotected, so the Jazz are going to have 4 lotto picks in the next 2 years. And New Jersey's pick this year should be a top 5 pick. It's going to be a quick rebuild for the Jazz.

More rumours.

http://espn.go.com/blog/TrueHoop/post/_/id/25292/sources-jonny-flynn-on-market

A number of GMs are telling me that the Wolves are out there offering Jonny Flynn around the league. Flynn was the No. 6 pick in the draft in 2009. The Wolves drafted Flynn and Ricky Rubio in the lottery -- passing on a number of other more successful guards including Stephen Curry, Brandon Jennings, Jrue Holiday, Ty Lawson and Darren Collison to get them. But injuries and general poor play by Flynn and the possibility of Rubio joining the team this summer now have the Wolves looking to move him.

Where will he land? Sources say the Wolves have offered Flynn to the Jazz as part of a Raja Bell deal. They are also talking to several other teams including the Blazers about a deal.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/211316/Warriors_In_Trade_Talks_For_Nate_Robinson

The Warriors and Celtics are in trade discussions that would send Nate Robinson to Golden State, according to a source.

Other parts of the trade are not clear yet and is not done.
Via Sam Amick/FanHouse

I'm not suprised that the Wolves are already shopping Flynn but I am shocked that they're discussing a deal centered around Raja Bell. It's hard to believe that his value is already that low, no offense to Bell either.

Warriors need a 3rd guard and Robinson really hasn't fit in with the Celtics.

I thought Cuban voiced strong opinions that I agree with regarding the Hornets-Kings trade of Landry. If they're saying teams are losing money, how does a league owned team be allowed to spend money?

I thought that sucked for Clippers. I understand it was money saving, but Baron is only 31 years old with 2 years left. If it was still a bored Baron Davis in LA, i get it. He's not worth the minimum. But this is an excited Baron Davis in LA because of Blake Griffin. An excited and pumped up Baron Davis is still a very very good PG. Better than anything Mo Williams can be. But ofcourse Baron will return to his old uninterested self once he gets to Cleveland. How is that supposed to work out?

I don't get that trade or the one involving Deron. I don't see how any of those teams improved by the moves made.

And regarding the Melo deal,I feel for Billups. He's from Colorado, was happy there, wanted to retire a Nugget and slide into a front office position when he retires.

Jeff Green and Nenad Kristic to the Celtics for Nate Robinson and Kendrick Perkins. Love this deal for the Thunder, they finally get that big physical defensive anchor that they really really needed.

The most lopsided one IMO is Portland getting Gerald Wallace.

The most confusing one is Pacers getting OJ Mayo and 1st round pick for Josh McRoberts. That does not make sense at all.

Oh it was a misprint. Memphis got McRoberts and a 1st round pick from Indiana.

Return to San Antonio Spurs
