Not trying to be a troll, but it is not a bad option for you, even Billups for Parker straight.

Both Duncan and Billups expire in 2012 and allows you to go for one of the big free agents, and Billups is still good enough to compete in 2011.

Sure you can get draft picks and young talent for Parker, but that means saying goodbye to the 2011 season and not having enough cap space for 2012.

The fact is we're not an ideal destination for big name free agents. I doubt Paul or Howard would be interested in coming here.

I didn't think about it that way, the fact is that San Antonio has earned quite a good reputation as a franchise (not like Sacramento, Clippers ...)

Anyhow, this is a moot point till the new CBA is decided; that will settle the field for teams after big name free agents. If the cap somehow is still high (at the expense of exceptions, possibly) NY might prefer to wait for 2012, too. If the cap is lowered (but exceptions are kept), that reduces the number of teams that can go for big signings, and teams over the cap will be compelled to remain there.
