EuroBasket 2011/FIBA Americas Thread

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Sep 1, 2011 8:29 pm

I thought I might as well make a thread on the tourneys considering we have quite a few players/prospects playing in it. Parker, Bertans, Ginobili, Joesph, and Splitter.

Parker had a huge game yesterday against Latvia. He had 31 and 7.

Manu had a good game today in a blowout against Uruguay.

Corey Joesph looked solid against Brazil, he had 8 points, 2 assists and 2 steals with no turnovers in 24 minutes.

Splitter struggled shooting the ball against Canada (2-9 from the field, 1-5 from the line) but he had 10 rebounds 2 steals and a block.

I'll do my best to keep this up to date, but I wouldn't be upset if you pitched in as well.

What about Erazem Lorbek? :)

He had a solid first game against Bulgaria - 18 pts, 9 rebounds, a steal and an assist in 29 minutes.
2nd game against Ukraine was a little worse - 12 pts, 3 rebounds in 24 minutes.

Cory Joesph had another strong game today against the Dominican Republic. He had 6 points and 4 assists and he played great defense all game long.

I've really liked what i've seen from him so far. He hasn't exactly been filling up the stat sheet but he doesn't turn the ball over, he makes plays, he hustles and he's solid defensively. Rautins offense basically revolves around jacking up 3's so Corey really hasn't gotten a chance to do much offensively other than pass the ball.

Tony had another amazing game against Germany today, 32 points, 6 assists and only 1 turnover.

Bertans looked decent in limited minutes today. 5 points and 3 rebounds on 1 of 3 shooting in 5 minutes.

Todays updates:

Manu had 14 points and 8 assists in another blowout win against Panama.

Tiago Splitter only played 10 minutes against Cuba and 4 points and 3 boards.

Cory Joesph's backup Jermaine Anderson got hot and scored 28 against Venezuela so Cory only 15 minutes.

Tony had his worst game of Eurobasket so far. He only had 8 points and 4 assists.

Bertans had another bad game, he's really struggling with his shot. 7 points in 15 minutes on 1/4 shooting.

Bertans finally had a good game. 15 points 3/5 from 3 in a loss against Germany.

Tony Parker had 24 points in an overtime win over Serbia. He didn't shoot the ball all that well from the floor but he was perfect from the line (12 for 12) and he hit what turned out to be the winning free throws.

Also Lorbak has 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in a loss against Russia. I still haven't had a chance to see him play but his stat lines have looked pretty solid so far.

Actually he's a little hurt. Coming with 6 steals.

By the way, Gelabale is waiting for a NBA contract. I think the spurs staff was interested. Never turn the ball over, great defender (SG, SF even PF), very good athletism, cold blood, can score from everywhere on the floor espescially behind the arc: best % in the tournament so far with 64.7% at 11/17.

Well Canada's done now. Joesph looked really good all tourney long, he didn't put up numbers but that had a lot more to do with the coaching staff than it did with his play. He played great defense and he looked like a PG out there. He didn't turn the ball over and he made plays.

I don't know what his ceiling is but he's definitely a NBA player.
