According to Sports Illustrated's Sam Amik, the San Antonio Spurs have signed journeyman forward Ike Diogu to a one-year deal.

Diogu played with the Los Angeles Clippers last season and averaged 5.8 points, and 3.2 rebounds in 36 games for the Clippers.

Diogu at 6'9", and 250 lbs. will help the Spurs interior and give the team the size they desperately need. Currently, the only big men on the roster are Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter. DeJuan Blair is undersized (though has been playing great so far this season) and Matt Bonner is more of a perimeter player. With Diogu, they Spurs will have a "banger" in the post.

This move also coincides with rookie Cory Joseph being sent to the Toros today which may mean the move was made to make room for Ike on the roster.

Well we've been begging RC to sign another big looks like he listened.

Diogu didn't look half bad for the Clippers last year.

We should of signed somebody awhile ago, and who's more of a long defender.... but at least we have another productive body who can play tough inside.

His presence will provide more rest for our bigs and a replacement in the unfortunate case of an injury. Still, we'd better find a backup with the length and size of a center as Diogu is a PF at 6-8 and his shot-blocking numbers career-wise are shockingly low.
